我父曾命我曰、當立誓、我死後、必葬我於迦南地所備之墓、今求容我往彼、葬父而返、

‘ My father made me swear an oath and said,“ I am about to die; bury me in the tomb I dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now let me go up and bury my father; then I will return.’”

‘ My father made me give my word to him. He said,“ I’m about to die. Bury me in the tomb I dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” So let me go there and bury my father. Then I’ll come back.’ ”

‘ My father made me swear, saying,“ I am about to die: in my tomb that I hewed out for myself in the land of Canaan, there shall you bury me.” Now therefore, let me please go up and bury my father. Then I will return.’”

Tell him that my father made me swear an oath. He said to me,‘ Listen, I am about to die. Take my body back to the land of Canaan, and bury me in the tomb I prepared for myself.’ So please allow me to go and bury my father. After his burial, I will return without delay.”

你在這裡有什麼權利，你在這裡有什麼人，你竟然在這裡為自己開鑿墳墓？你這在高處為自己開鑿墳墓、在巖石中為自己雕鑿住所的人哪！

安放在自己的新墓穴裡，這墓穴是他鑿在岩石裡的。他又滾來一塊大石頭，堵住墓穴口，就離開了。

以色列的死期臨近了，就叫來他兒子約瑟，對他說：「如果我在你眼前蒙恩，請你把手放在我大腿底下，以恩慈和真誠對待我，請你不要把我葬在埃及。我與我祖先長眠的時候，你要把我帶出埃及，把我葬在他們的安葬之地。」約瑟說：「我必照著你的吩咐去做。」雅各說：「你要向我起誓。」約瑟就向他起誓。於是以色列就在床頭敬拜。

耶穌對另一個人說：「你跟從我！」可是他說：「主啊，請准許我先去埋葬我的父親。」耶穌對他說：「讓死人去埋葬他們的死人吧。至於你，你要去宣講神的國。」

雅各又吩咐他們，對他們說：「我就要歸到我的先人那裡了。你們要把我葬在我的祖先那裡，葬在赫提人以弗崙田野中的洞穴裡，就是在迦南地幔利對面的麥比拉田間的洞穴裡；麥比拉田是亞伯拉罕向赫提人以弗崙買來的，作為他擁有的墳地。

耶穌的另一個門徒對他說：「主啊，請准許我先去埋葬我的父親。」但是耶穌對他說：「你跟從我，讓死人去埋葬他們的死人吧。」

如果有人生了一百個孩子，也活了許多歲月，雖然他的年日長久，心裡卻不因福份而滿足，甚至自己得不到安葬，我就說：「流產的胎兒倒比他好！」

甚至人害怕高處，害怕道路上的危險；杏樹開花，蚱蜢蹣跚，人的性慾衰退；因為人歸向自己永遠的家，哀哭的人在街道上繞行。

以色列對約瑟說：「看哪，我就要死了！但神必與你們同在，把你們帶回到你們祖先之地。

掃羅對約拿單說：「告訴我，你做了什麼？」約拿單就告訴他說：「我只是用手杖尖蘸了一點蜂蜜吃，我這樣就必須死嗎？」

約瑟對他的兄弟們說：「我就要死了，但神必定眷顧你們，還要把你們從這地帶上去，到他起誓要給亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的地去。」

你必汗流滿面才有飯吃，直到你歸回土地，因為你是從那裡取出來的。你本是塵土，就要歸回塵土。」

那時塵土要歸回大地，像原來那樣；靈也要歸回賜靈的神。

他們使耶路撒冷四圍血流成河，屍體無人埋葬。
