‘ My father made me swear an oath and said,“ I am about to die; bury me in the tomb I dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now let me go up and bury my father; then I will return.’”

人把他埋葬在大衛城裡他為自己所鑿的墳墓中。他們把他放在堆滿按著作香的方法調和的各樣香料的床上，又為他燒了很多香料。

你在這裡有甚麼權利呢？你在這裡有甚麼人，竟在這裡為你自己鑿墳墓，就是在高處為自己鑿墳墓，在磐石中為自己鑿出安身之所呢？

放在自己的新墳墓裡，就是在磐石裡鑿出來的。他輥了一塊大石頭來擋住墓門，然後才離開。

以色列的死期快到了，就把他兒子約瑟叫了來，對他說：“如果我在你面前蒙你喜悅，請你把手放在我的大腿底下起誓，要以慈愛和誠實對待我，不要把我埋葬在埃及。我與我的祖先同睡的時候，你要把我從埃及帶出去，埋葬在他們的墓地裡。”約瑟說：“我必照著你的話去作。”雅各說：“你要向我起誓。”約瑟就向他起了誓，於是以色列靠著床頭﹙“靠著床頭”有古譯本作“倚著杖頭”〔參來11:21〕﹚敬拜神。

他對另一個人說：“你跟從我吧！”那人說：“主啊，請准我先回去安葬我的父親吧。”耶穌說：“讓死人去埋葬他們的死人，你應該去傳揚神的國。”

雅各又囑咐他們，對他們說：“我快要歸到我的親族那裡去，你們要把我埋葬在赫人以弗崙田間的洞裡，與我的祖先在一起。這個洞在迦南地，在幔利前面的麥比拉的田間。那地方原是亞伯拉罕向赫人以弗崙買下來作墳地的。

人如果生下百子，活了許多歲數，年日長久，但是心裡不因美物滿足，又得不到安葬，我以為流產的胎比他還好。

人怕高處，怕路上有驚嚇。杏樹開花，蚱蜢蹣跚而行，催情果失效。因為人歸他永遠的家，哭喪的在街上遊行。

以色列又對約瑟說：“看哪，我快要死了，但是神必與你們同在，必領你們回到你們祖先的土地去。

掃羅對約拿單說：“告訴我，你作了甚麼事？”約拿單告訴他：“我用我手中的杖頭嘗了一點蜂蜜。我在這裡，我願意死！”

約瑟對他的兄弟們說：“我快要死了，但神必定眷顧你們，領你們從這地上到他起誓應許給亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各之地去。”

你必汗流滿面，才有飯吃，直到你歸回地土，因為你是從地土取出來的；你既然是塵土，就要歸回塵土。”

我知道你必使我歸回死地，歸到那為眾生所定的陰宅。

塵土要歸回原來之地，靈要歸回賜靈的神。

他們在耶路撒冷的周圍把聖民的血像水一般倒出，沒有人埋葬他們。

我只有死在此地，不得過約旦河；你們卻可以過去，取得那美地作產業。
