請告訴法老，我父親死前要我起誓把他葬在迦南他自己預備好的墳地。請准許我到迦南去安葬我父親，我辦完喪事就回來。」

‘我父亲要死的时候叫我起誓说：你要将我葬在迦南地，在我为自己所掘的坟墓里。’现在求你让我上去葬我父亲，以后我必回来。”

‘ My father made me swear an oath and said,“ I am about to die; bury me in the tomb I dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now let me go up and bury my father; then I will return.’”

‘ My father made me give my word to him. He said,“ I’m about to die. Bury me in the tomb I dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” So let me go there and bury my father. Then I’ll come back.’ ”

‘ My father made me swear, saying,“ I am about to die: in my tomb that I hewed out for myself in the land of Canaan, there shall you bury me.” Now therefore, let me please go up and bury my father. Then I will return.’”

Tell him that my father made me swear an oath. He said to me,‘ Listen, I am about to die. Take my body back to the land of Canaan, and bury me in the tomb I prepared for myself.’ So please allow me to go and bury my father. After his burial, I will return without delay.”

葬在大衛城他為自己鑿的墳墓裡。民眾把他放在堆滿精心調製的各種香料的床上，又點了一堆大火向他致哀。

「你在這裡做什麼？你憑什麼在這裡為自己挖墳墓，在高處為自己挖墳墓，在磐石上為自己鑿安息之所？

安放在他為自己在岩壁上鑿出的新墓穴裡，並滾來一塊大石頭封閉墓穴的入口，然後離去。

他快要離世的時候，把兒子約瑟叫來，說：「你如果恩待我，請你把手放在我大腿底下起誓，你會以慈愛和信實待我，不把我葬在埃及。我與祖先同眠後，你要把我帶出埃及安葬在我祖先的身邊。」約瑟說：「我必照你說的做。」雅各要約瑟起誓，約瑟照做了。於是，以色列在床頭敬拜上帝。

耶穌又對另一個人說：「跟從我！」但是那人說：「主啊，請讓我先回去安葬我的父親。」耶穌說：「讓死人去埋葬他們的死人吧，你只管去傳揚上帝國的福音。」

雅各又囑咐他們說：「我要離世了，你們要把我葬在赫人以弗崙田間的洞裡，讓我與祖先在一起。那洞穴在迦南幔利附近的麥比拉田間，是亞伯拉罕向赫人以弗崙買來作墳地的。

另一個門徒對耶穌說：「主啊，請讓我先回去安葬我的父親。」耶穌對他說：「跟從我，讓死人去埋葬他們的死人吧！」

人若有一百個兒子，並且長壽，但心中卻從未得到滿足，死後又不得安葬。唉！這樣的人還不如流產的胎兒。

懼怕高處，走路戰戰兢兢；頭髮白如銀杏，精力枯竭，慾望蕩然無存；人都走向永遠的歸宿，弔喪的人往來於街上；

以色列對約瑟說：「我快死了，但上帝必與你們同在，帶你們回到你們祖先的土地。

掃羅對約拿單說：「告訴我，你做了什麼事？」約拿單說：「我只不過用手中的杖蘸了一點蜂蜜吃，就得死嗎？」

一天，約瑟對他的弟兄們說：「我快要死了，但上帝必看顧你們，帶你們離開這裡，回到祂起誓應許給亞伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的地方。」

你必汗流滿面，才有飯吃，一直到你歸回塵土。因為你是塵土造的，也必歸回塵土。」

我知道你要帶我去死亡之地，那是你為眾生所定的歸宿。

那時塵土必歸於塵土，靈也要歸回賜靈的上帝。

使耶路撒冷周圍血流成河，屍體無人埋葬。

我將死在約旦河這邊，過不了約旦河。但你們必過去得到那片佳美之地。
