So Joseph made the sons of Israel take an oath:“ When God comes to your aid, you are to carry my bones up from here.”

And Joseph made the Israelites swear an oath and said,“ God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.”

Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, because Joseph had made the Israelites swear a solemn oath, saying,“ God will certainly come to your aid; then you must take my bones with you from this place.”

By faith Joseph, as he was nearing the end of his life, mentioned the exodus of the Israelites and gave instructions concerning his bones.

were carried back to Shechem, and were placed in the tomb that Abraham had bought for a sum of silver from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.

When the time drew near for him to die, he called his son Joseph and said to him,“ If I have found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my thigh and promise me that you will deal with me in kindness and faithfulness. Do not bury me in Egypt.When I rest with my fathers, carry me away from Egypt and bury me in their burial place.” Joseph answered,“ I will do what you have asked.”And Jacob said,“ Swear to me.” So Joseph swore to him. Then Israel bowed in thanks at the head of his bed.

my father made me take an oath, saying,‘ I am about to die. You must bury me there in the tomb that I made for myself in the land of Canaan.’ Now let me go and bury my father. Then I will return.”
