But Joseph said to them,“ Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God?

But Joseph said to them,“ Don’t be afraid. Do you think I’m God?

Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written:“ It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

Jacob became angry with her and said,“ Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?”

As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said,“ Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!”

who shows no partiality to princes and does not favor the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of his hands?They die in an instant, in the middle of the night; the people are shaken and they pass away; the mighty are removed without human hand.“ His eyes are on the ways of mortals; he sees their every step.There is no deep shadow, no utter darkness, where evildoers can hide.God has no need to examine people further, that they should come before him for judgment.Without inquiry he shatters the mighty and sets up others in their place.Because he takes note of their deeds, he overthrows them in the night and they are crushed.He punishes them for their wickedness where everyone can see them,because they turned from following him and had no regard for any of his ways.They caused the cry of the poor to come before him, so that he heard the cry of the needy.But if he remains silent, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, who can see him? Yet he is over individual and nation alike,

For we know him who said,“ It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again,“ The Lord will judge his people.”

And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.

It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.”

They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.He said to them,“ Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?

But Jesus immediately said to them:“ Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
