So the sons of Jacob did for him just as he had instructed them.

雅各的儿子们就遵着他父亲所吩咐的办了，

雅各的儿子们遵照父亲的吩咐去办了，

以色列的儿子们遵照父亲的遗言，

雅各的众子就照着父亲嘱咐他们的去作，

这样，雅各的儿子们就照着父亲吩咐他们的为他去做：

這樣，雅各的兒子們就照著父親吩咐他們的為他去做：

雅各諸子、循父命而行、

雅各眾子遵父命而行、

So Jacob’s sons did as he had commanded them:

“ Honor your father and your mother, that you may live a long time in the land the LORD your God is giving to you.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right.

The time for Israel to die approached, so he called for his son Joseph and said to him,“ If now I have found favor in your sight, put your hand under my thigh and show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not bury me in Egypt,but when I rest with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place.” Joseph said,“ I will do as you say.”Jacob said,“ Swear to me that you will do so.” So Joseph gave him his word. Then Israel bowed down at the head of his bed.

and their bones were later moved to Shechem and placed in the tomb that Abraham had bought for a certain sum of money from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.

Then he instructed them,“ I am about to go to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite.It is the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought for a burial plot from Ephron the Hittite.There they buried Abraham and his wife Sarah; there they buried Isaac and his wife Rebekah; and there I buried Leah.The field and the cave in it were acquired from the sons of Heth.”
