耶和華從天上垂看世人，要看有明白的沒有，有尋求神的沒有。他們都偏離正路，一同變為污穢，沒有行善的，連一個也沒有。

我們從前也都生活在他們當中，放縱肉體的私慾，隨着肉體和心中的意念去做，和別人一樣，生來就是該受懲罰的人。

這樣，在神面前人怎能稱義？婦人所生的怎能潔淨？

為此，正如罪是從一人進入世界，死又從罪而來，於是死就臨到所有的人，因為人人都犯了罪。

誰能使潔淨出於污穢呢？誰也不能！

看哪，我是在罪孽裏生的，在我母親懷胎的時候就有了罪。

從肉身生的就是肉身；從靈生的就是靈。
