Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased.

I won’t share in their plans. I won’t have anything to do with them. They became angry and killed people. They cut the legs of oxen just for the fun of it.

Let my soul come not into their council; O my glory, be not joined to their company. For in their anger they killed men, and in their willfulness they hamstrung oxen.

May I never join in their meetings; may I never be a party to their plans. For in their anger they murdered men, and they crippled oxen just for sport.

雅各責備西緬和利未說：「你們為什麼要給我惹麻煩，使我在當地的迦南人和比利洗人中留下臭名呢？我們人數很少，要是他們聯手來攻擊我們，我們全家必遭滅門之禍。」

別把我的靈魂和罪人同毀，別把我的性命與嗜血之徒同滅。

因此，我的心歡喜，我的靈快樂，我的身體也安然無恙。

求你保護我免遭惡人的謀害，使我脫離不法之徒。

我的心啊，要振奮起來！琴瑟啊，彈奏吧！我要喚醒黎明！

義人的心思公平正直，惡人的計謀陰險詭詐。

我的心啊！你為何沮喪？為何煩躁？要仰望上帝，因為我還要讚美祂——我的救主，我的上帝。

不要和非信徒同負一軛，因為公義和不法怎能合作呢？光明和黑暗怎能共存呢？

我沒有與作樂的人為伍，沒有與他們同樂。你要我獨坐一處，他們的罪惡使我怒氣填胸。

『凡暗殺鄰居的必受咒詛！』全體民眾要回答說，『阿們！』

那時，我就可以對自己說，「你積存這麼多財產，一生享用不盡，現在大可高枕無憂、盡情地吃喝玩樂吧！」』

我沒有與詭詐者為伍，沒有跟虛偽之人同流。我憎恨奸惡之輩，不願與惡人交往。

好叫我從心底歌頌你，不致默然無聲。我的上帝耶和華啊，我要永遠向你感恩！

不從惡人的計謀，不與罪人為伍，不和輕慢上帝的人同流合污，只喜愛耶和華的律法，晝夜默誦，這樣的人有福了！

藉律例製造不幸的首領，豈能與你聯盟？他們結黨攻擊義人，殘害無辜。

我的心啊，要稱頌耶和華，我要全心全意地稱頌祂的聖名。

我的心啊，我的心啊！我傷心欲絕，煩躁不安。我無法保持緘默，因為我聽見了號角聲和呐喊聲。

上帝啊，求你定他們的罪，讓他們作繭自縛。他們背叛你，罪惡深重，求你把他們趕走。

到了第三天，他們傷口正疼痛的時候，雅各的兩個兒子——底娜的哥哥西緬和利未拿著利劍，乘眾人沒有防備，潛入城中，殺掉了所有的男子，包括哈抹和示劍，從示劍家裡帶走了底娜。

他們若說：「跟我們來吧，我們去埋伏殺人，暗害無辜者取樂；

耶和華啊，願你殺戮惡人！嗜血成性的人啊，你們走開！

孩子啊，不要走他們的道，切莫行他們的路。因為他們奔向罪惡，急速地去殺人流血。

求你不要把我與奸惡人一同責罰，他們對鄰居口蜜腹劍。
