人死了，就化为乌有；人一气绝就不在了。

我知道你必使我归回死地，归到那为众生所定的阴宅。

有名字登记在天上众长子的教会，有审判众人的神，有被成全的义人的灵魂，

这些人都是存着信心死了的，还没有得着所应许的，只不过是从远处看见，就表示欢迎，又承认他们在世上是异乡人，是客旅。因为说这样话的人，是表明他们在寻求一个家乡。如果他们怀念已经离开了的地方，还有可以回去的机会。但是现在他们所向往的，是一个更美的、在天上的家乡。所以，神不以他们称他为神而觉得羞耻；因为他已经为他们预备了一座城。

于是领他到外面去，说：“你向天观看，数点众星，看你能不能把它们数得清楚。”又对他说：“你的后裔将要这样众多。”

但他的弓依然坚硬，他的手臂仍旧敏捷，这是出于雅各的大能者之手；出于以色列的牧者，以色列的磐石。是你父亲的神帮助你，是那全能者赐给你；他把从天上来的福，地下深渊蕴藏着的福，哺乳和生育的福，都赐给你。你父亲的祝福，胜过我祖先的祝福﹙“胜过我祖先的祝福”有古译本作“胜过亘古的山冈”﹚，胜过永远山岭上的美物。愿这些福都降在约瑟的头上，降在兄弟中作王子的那一位头上。

你必全寿才归到坟墓去，如同禾捆到时就收起来。

“主啊，现在照你的话，释放仆人平平安安地去吧！

约书亚对全体人民说：“看哪，这块石头可以向我们作证，因为它听见了耶和华对我们所说的一切话；所以这块石头要向你们作证，免得你们否认你们的神。”于是约书亚打发众民各自回到自己的地业去了。这些事以后，耶和华的仆人、嫩的儿子约书亚死了，那时他是一百一十岁。

雅各把他的众子叫来，说：“你们要聚集在一起，我要把你们日后必遇到的事告诉你们。
