以撒年紀老邁，歲數滿足，氣絕而死，被收殮歸他先族人；他的兒子以掃雅各把他埋葬了。

兒子們把他運到迦南地，將他埋葬在麥比拉田地間的洞裏；那洞和田地是亞伯拉罕向赫人以弗崙買來做產業為墳地的；是在幔利東面。

後來就遷運到敘劍，安放於亞伯拉罕在敘劍用價銀從哈抹的兒子購買過來的塋墓裏。

我同我祖我父長眠的時候，你要將我帶出埃及，埋葬在他們的葬地裏。』約瑟說：『我要照你所說的話來作。』

亞伯拉罕從他死了的親人面前起來，對赫人說：

亞伯拉罕聽從了以弗崙；就平了銀子給以弗崙，就是他在赫人聽得到的地方所說的，平商人通用的銀子四百舍客勒。於是以弗崙的田地、那在麥比拉在幔利東面的、那塊田地和其中的洞、以及田地中間跟四圍界限所有的一切樹木，都定準歸於亞伯拉罕做產業，是他在赫人和出入城門的人眼前買妥了的。這事以後，亞伯拉罕就把他妻子撒拉埋葬在迦南地幔利東面麥比拉田間的洞裏：幔利就是希伯崙。從此那塊田地和其中的洞、就定準赫人轉歸亞伯拉罕做產業為墳地。
