Then he gave them these instructions:“ I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

Then Jacob gave directions to his sons. He said,“ I’m about to join the members of my family who have already died. Bury me with them in the cave in the field of Ephron, the Hittite.

俟我與祖父偕眠時、必攜我出埃及、葬於先人之兆、曰、必循爾命而行、

爾必安然歸祖、考終而葬、

諸長子會咸集、即名錄於天者、暨鞫眾之上帝、並義人得完全之靈、

壽高年邁、氣絕而終、歸於列祖、其子以掃雅各葬之、

既依所賦之恩、受賜有別、或預言、則依信量、或役事、則役事、或教誨、則教誨、或勸慰、則勸慰、濟者以誠、治者以勤、矜者以樂、愛毋偽、惡惡而親善、兄弟相愛宜親厚、相敬則先施、勤而毋怠、熱衷事主、喜於望、忍於難、恆於禱、供應聖徒、厚待賓旅、窘逐爾者祝之、祝而毋詛、與樂者同樂、哭者同哭、心相同、志毋高、惟謙是從、勿自為智、勿以惡報惡、眾所善者則求之、若或能之、則盡己以和眾、愛友乎、勿自伸冤、寧待主怒、記有之、主曰、伸冤在我、我將報之、敵飢則食之、渴則飲之、如是而行、猶以爇炭集厥首、毋為惡所勝、宜以善勝惡、

容僕旋歸、死於故邑、在我父母墓側、爾僕金罕在此、請准其與我主我王偕濟、依爾所視為善者待之、

壽高年邁、氣絕而終、歸於列祖、其子以撒、與以實瑪利、葬之於麥比拉穴、與幔利相對、赫人瑣轄子以弗崙之田、即亞伯拉罕購自赫人者、亞伯拉罕與妻撒拉、同葬於此、亞伯拉罕卒後、上帝錫嘏其子以撒、以撒附庇耳拉海萊而居、○亞伯拉罕子以實瑪利、即撒拉婢埃及女夏甲所生者、其裔、循其世系名氏、記列於左、以實瑪利長子尼拜約、及基達、亞德別、米比衫、米施瑪、度瑪、瑪撒、哈大、提瑪、伊突、拿非施、基底瑪、此皆以實瑪利諸子之名、隨其鄉里屯營、為十二族之牧伯、以實瑪利享壽一百三十七歲、氣絕而終、歸於列祖、
