離米迦室已遠、米迦集鄰友追及但族、呼於其後。但族顧米迦曰、爾率斯眾、將欲何為。曰我所作之上帝像、所任之祭司、爾攜之去、不遺一物、反問我何為耶。但族曰、毋揚爾聲、恐暴戾之人擊爾、爾與眷聚群喪其命。米迦見彼強於己、則歸。但族往。攜米迦所作之像、與其祭司、至於拉億、見民安居逸樂、擊之以刃、燬其邑垣。拉億在伯哩合谷、離西頓甚遠、不與他人通聞問、故無援者。但族復建城邑、而居於彼。昔邑名拉億、今循厥祖以色列子但之名、易名曰但。但族立偶像、而馬拿西孫、革順子、約拿單與其子孫為但支派之祭司、迨民被虜之日而後已、上帝之室、時在示羅、但族立米迦所作之偶像。

既薙之後、其髮再長。非利士人伯曰、我之上帝以我敵參孫付於我手。故集其眾、大獻祭品、奉事其上帝、厥名大公、自取歡悅。民見參孫、則譽其上帝、曰、彼乃我敵、曾敗我國、戮我民、今為我上帝付於我手。中心欣喜時、則曰、盍召參孫、以供我玩。遂召參孫、出之於獄、置兩柱間、使作戲劇、參孫謂相己之童曰、容捫室柱、我欲倚之。室中男女充斥、非利士人群伯亦在、至於室上亦有男女約三千人、觀參孫戲劇。參孫籲耶和華曰、祈耶和華上帝垂念我、賜我以力、惟此一次、因非利士人喪我明、我必速報斯仇。參孫執室之兩柱、一以左手、一以右手、曰、願與非利士人偕亡。盡施己力、室遂傾圯、群伯與眾民悉被壓。參孫死之日所殺者、較生時所戮者尤多。

參孫往亭訥、見非利士人之女、反告父母曰、我在亭訥、見非利士人女、願為我娶之。父母曰、爾同儕、同族中豈無女乎、非利士人未受割禮、何娶其女乎。參孫告父曰、我悅斯女、請為我聘。蓋是時以色列族為非利士人所轄、參孫父母不知斯事由於耶和華、使參孫與非利士人生其釁隙。參孫與父母偕往亭訥、至葡萄園、有穉獅哮吼以迎。參孫為耶和華之神所感、雖不執器、亦剖獅腹、如剖羊羔、不以所行告其父母、遂往偕婦談言、意甚悅之。越數日復至、欲娶斯女、轉由途側、以觀獅尸、見群蜂與蜜在其中。乃取之、且行且食、至父母所、亦予之食、不以取蜜之故告。父詣女所、參孫循少者之例、肆筵設席。人見參孫、則簡同儔三十人、以與之偕。參孫曰、容我以隱語相試、如宴間七日、果能詳釋、我必取布三十端、衣三十襲、以饋於爾。浸假不能、爾必饋我、亦如此數。僉曰、可、盍題隱語、使我聞之。曰、自食者出食、自強者出甜。同儕歷三日不能解其意。越至七日、謂參孫妻曰、可餂爾夫、使詳隱語、不然、我必燬爾及父家室。爾來邀我、非欲得我所有乎。
