Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife saying,“ May the LORD raise up for you descendants from this woman to replace the one that she dedicated to the LORD.” Then they would go to their home.So the LORD graciously attended to Hannah, and she was able to conceive and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. The boy Samuel grew up at the LORD’s sanctuary.

May God give you the dew of the sky and the richness of the earth, and plenty of grain and new wine.May peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. You will be lord over your brothers, and the sons of your mother will bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed, and those who bless you be blessed.”

Jacob became furious with Rachel and exclaimed,“ Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?”

No foreigner who becomes a follower of the LORD should say,‘ The LORD will certainly exclude me from his people.’ The eunuch should not say,‘ Look, I am like a dried-up tree.’”For this is what the LORD says:“ For the eunuchs who observe my Sabbaths and choose what pleases me and are faithful to my covenant,I will set up within my temple and my walls a monument that will be better than sons and daughters. I will set up a permanent monument for them that will remain.
