Obed edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth; God had indeed blessed him.

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them. He blessed them, every one with the blessing appropriate to him.

Bless me, me as well, my father.” So Esau raised his voice and wept.Then his father Isaac answered and said to him,“ Behold, away from the fertility of the earth shall be your dwelling, And away from the dew of heaven from above.And by your sword you shall live, And you shall serve your brother; But it shall come about when you become restless, That you will break his yoke from your neck.”

May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, so that you may become a multitude of peoples.May He also give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your descendants with you, so that you may possess the land where you live as a stranger, which God gave to Abraham.”

Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are for signs and wonders in Israel from the Lord of armies, who dwells on Mount Zion.

Then Jacob’s anger burned against Rachel, and he said,“ Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”

Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say,“ The Lord will certainly separate me from His people.” Nor let the eunuch say,“ Behold, I am a dry tree.”For this is what the Lord says:“ To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, And choose what pleases Me, And hold firmly to My covenant,To them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial, And a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name which will not be eliminated.
