But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He too will become a people, and he too will become great. Nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a group of nations.”

But his father wouldn’t do it. He said,“ I know, my son. I know. He too will become a nation. He too will become great. But his younger brother will be greater than he is. His children after him will become a group of nations.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”

But his father refused.“ I know, my son; I know,” he replied.“ Manasseh will also become a great people, but his younger brother will become even greater. And his descendants will become a multitude of nations.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know! He too will become a tribe, and he too will be great; nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his offspring will become a populous nation.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know; he also will become a people and he also will be great. However, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.”

他是牛羣中頭生的，大有威嚴；他的雙角是野牛的角，用以牴觸萬民，直到地極。這對角是以法蓮的萬萬，這對角是瑪拿西的千千。』

耶和華－你們的上帝使你們增多。看哪，你們今日好像天上的星那樣多。

以法蓮支派被數的共有四萬零五百名。瑪拿西子孫的後代，照着宗族、父家、人名的數目，凡二十歲以上能出去打仗的，瑪拿西支派被數的共有三萬二千二百名。

在城門坐着的所有百姓和長老說：「我們都是證人。願耶和華使進你家的這女子，像建立以色列家的拉結和利亞二人一樣。又願你在以法他得亨通，在伯利恆有名聲。願耶和華從這年輕女子賜你後裔，使你的家像她瑪從猶大所生法勒斯的家一樣。」

「波斯人、路德人、弗人在你的軍營中作戰士；他們在你們中間懸掛盾牌和頭盔，彰顯你的尊榮。

亞設支派中有一萬二千；拿弗他利支派中有一萬二千；瑪拿西支派中有一萬二千；

他的軍隊被數的有四萬零五百名。在他旁邊的是瑪拿西支派。瑪拿西人的領袖是比大蓿的兒子迦瑪列，他的軍隊被數的有三萬二千二百名。

以色列卻伸出右手來，按在次子以法蓮的頭上，又交叉伸出左手來，按在長子瑪拿西的頭上。

至於以實瑪利，我已聽見你了：看哪，我必賜福給他，使他興旺，極其繁多。他必生十二個族長，我要使他成為大國。到明年所定的時候，撒拉必為你生以撒，我要與他堅立我的約。」

西布倫支派中有一萬二千；約瑟支派中有一萬二千；便雅憫支派中受印的有一萬二千。
