随后又有七个荒年，甚至埃及地的人都忘了先前的丰收，这地必被饥荒所灭。因为那后来的饥荒非常严重，就不觉得这地先前有丰收。

田荒凉，地悲哀；因为五谷毁坏，新酒枯竭，新的油也缺乏。农夫啊，你们要惭愧；修整葡萄园的啊，你们要哀号；因为大麦、小麦与田间的庄稼全都毁了。葡萄树枯干，无花果树衰残，石榴树、棕树、苹果树，田野一切的树木都枯干；众人的喜乐尽都消逝。

亚哈对俄巴底说：“我们要走遍这地，到一切水泉旁和一切溪边，或者能找到青草，可以救活马和骡子，免得丧失一些牲畜。”

夜间每逢时辰开始，要起来呼喊，在主面前倾心吐意如水。你的孩童在街头上挨饿昏厥，你要为他们的性命向主举手。耶和华啊，求你观看，留意你向谁这样行。妇人岂可吃自己所生、所抚育的婴孩吗？祭司和先知岂可在主的圣所中被杀吗？

被刀剑刺杀的胜过因饥饿而死的；饥饿者由于缺乏田里的出产就消瘦而亡。

耶和华的话临到耶利米，论到旱灾的事：“犹大悲哀，城门衰败；众人坐在地上哀恸，耶路撒冷的哀声上达。他们的贵族打发僮仆去打水；他们来到水池，找不到水，就拿着空器皿，蒙羞惭愧，抱头而回。因为无雨降在地上，土地就干裂，农夫为此蒙羞抱头。田野的母鹿因为无草也撇弃才生的小鹿。野驴站在光秃的高地喘气，好像野狗；它们的眼目因无草而失明。”
