以色列的兒子們答應了。約瑟遵照法老的吩咐，為他的弟兄們預備好車輛和路上需用的糧食，

吩咐你的弟兄從埃及帶著車去把他們的妻子、兒女和你們的父親接來。

雅各聽了他們轉述約瑟的話，又看見約瑟派來接他的車，才回過神來。

法老把摩西召來，對他說：「去吧，帶著你們的婦女和孩子去事奉耶和華吧，但你們要把牛羊留下。」

我們要帶走所有的牲畜，一隻蹄子也不留下，因為我們要從其中選一些來獻給我們的上帝耶和華。我們抵達目的地前，還不知道把哪些獻給祂。」

從此以後，雅各和其他先祖們便定居埃及，直到去世。

雅各便起來讓兒女和妻子都騎上駱駝，帶著他在巴旦·亞蘭得到的所有牲畜和財物，啟程去迦南的父親以撒那裡。
