I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.”

約瑟伏在他父親的臉上哀哭、親吻。

看哪，我與你同在！你無論往哪裡去，我都會保守你，並且要把你帶回這地。我必不離棄你，直到成就了我對你所說的。」

以色列對約瑟說：「看哪，我就要死了！但神必與你們同在，把你們帶回到你們祖先之地。

『我父親曾經要我起誓，說：「看哪，我就要死了；你要把我葬在迦南地，葬在我為自己所掘的墳墓裡。」現在求你讓我上去，安葬我的父親，然後我就回來。』」

雅各啊，創造你的那一位，以色列啊，塑造你的那一位——耶和華如此說：「你不要害怕，因為我救贖了你；我提你的名召喚了你；你是屬於我的！你從水中經過，我必與你同在；你渡過河流，水必不漫過你；你在火中行走，必不被燒灼，火焰也燒不著你。

約瑟對他的兄弟們說：「我就要死了，但神必定眷顧你們，還要把你們從這地帶上去，到他起誓要給亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的地去。」約瑟就讓以色列的子孫起誓，說：「神必定眷顧你們，而你們要把我的骸骨從這裡帶上去。」

他們把他運到迦南地，葬在幔利對面的麥比拉田間的洞穴裡。那田是亞伯拉罕向赫提人以弗崙買來的，作為他擁有的墳地。

但我將審判他們所服事的那個國家；此後他們將帶著大量的財物出來。至於你，你必平平安安地歸到你祖先那裡，你必盡享天年，才被安葬。他們到第四代才會回到這裡，因為亞摩利人的罪孽還沒有滿盈。」
