猶大曰、我儕告主、豈尚有言辭、焉能自伸、上帝摘僕之咎。遇有爵於其手者、與我儕咸為主之奴。約瑟曰、不可、第遇有爵於其手者、則為我奴、爾眾安然以歸、返見爾父、可也。○猶大前、謂約瑟曰、主與法老、若同一體、僕有一言、告於主前、主毋怒。昔主問僕云、有父與兄弟否。僕告主曰、有、父年老耄耋、生季子、其同母之兄亡矣、其母惟遺此子、父絕愛憐。主命僕攜之至、欲目睹之。僕告主曰、彼與父、不能暫離、恐別父則父死。主命僕曰、若季弟不至、爾曹不復覿我面。僕旋歸、見吾主之僕我父、則以主言告。我父曰、復往、少為乞糴。僕曰、若季弟偕往、則可、否則不可、蓋季弟不同行、則其人之面、我不能覿。吾主之僕我父告我曰、爾知我妻拉結、惟生二子。一出不歸、我曰、必死於獸、至今不得見。一子尚存、今爾欲攜之去、設遭災害、是使我皓然白首、淒涼歸墓。今歸見吾主之僕我父、而季弟不與我偕、將若何。況父惜季弟如命。既見其不同歸、父必死、如是僕將使吾主之僕我父、皓然白首淒涼歸墓。蓋僕保此子於父前曰、如不攜之歸、我畢生負疚。今僕願代季弟居此、為吾主之奴、容季弟偕兄歸。如我歸而季弟不歸、見父遭禍、吾何忍乎、

爾當告曰、僕與祖宗、自幼迄今、牧畜為業、蓋埃及人視牧者為不屑、必以坷山為爾居地。約瑟覲法老、告曰、我之父兄、驅牛羊、攜所有、自迦南至、今在坷山。

挈凡所有、渡河向基列山而遁。

猶大謂以色列曰、遣弟與我偕往、汝我子女、均可相保、不至死亡。
