Genesis 41:50-52
And to Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On, bore to him.Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh:“ For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house.”And the name of the second he called Ephraim:“ For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”

So the children of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land. Their numbers increased from Bashan to Baal Hermon, that is, to Senir, or Mount Hermon.These were the heads of their fathers’ houses: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel. They were mighty men of valor, famous men, and heads of their fathers’ houses.And they were unfaithful to the God of their fathers, and played the harlot after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, that is, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. He carried the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh into captivity. He took them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan to this day.

The men of Gath who were born in that land killed them because they came down to take away their cattle.Then Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.And when he went in to his wife, she conceived and bore a son; and he called his name Beriah, because tragedy had come upon his house.Now his daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth Horon and Uzzen Sheerah;and Rephah was his son, as well as Resheph, and Telah his son, Tahan his son,Laadan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son,Nun his son, and Joshua his son.Now their possessions and dwelling places were Bethel and its towns: to the east Naaran, to the west Gezer and its towns, and Shechem and its towns, as far as Ayyah and its towns;and by the borders of the children of Manasseh were Beth Shean and its towns, Taanach and its towns, Megiddo and its towns, Dor and its towns. In these dwelt the children of Joseph, the son of Israel.

And of Joseph he said:“ Blessed of the Lord is his land, With the precious things of heaven, with the dew, And the deep lying beneath,With the precious fruits of the sun, With the precious produce of the months,With the best things of the ancient mountains, With the precious things of the everlasting hills,With the precious things of the earth and its fullness, And the favor of Him who dwelt in the bush. Let the blessing come‘ on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.’His glory is like a firstborn bull, And his horns like the horns of the wild ox; Together with them He shall push the peoples To the ends of the earth; They are the ten thousands of Ephraim, And they are the thousands of Manasseh.”
