又因为他们的工作，你们要用爱心格外尊重他们。你们应当彼此和睦。

他们彼此说：“我们在对待弟弟的事上实在有罪。他向我们求情的时候，我们看见他心里的痛苦，却不肯听他，所以这次苦难临到我们身上了。”流本回答他们，说：“我不是对你们说过：‘不要伤害那孩子’吗？可是你们不肯听，现在流他血的罪要向我们追讨。”

所以，你们既然是神所拣选的，是圣洁、蒙爱的人，就要存怜悯的心肠、恩慈、谦卑、温柔和忍耐。如果有人对别人有嫌隙，总要彼此宽容，互相饶恕；主怎样饶恕了你们，你们也要照样饶恕人。

看哪！弟兄和睦共处，是多么的善，多么的美。（本节在《马索拉文本》包括细字标题）这好比那珍贵的油浇在亚伦的头上，流到胡须，又从亚伦的胡须，流到他的衣领上。又好比黑门的甘露落在锡安的众山上，在那里有耶和华命定的福，就是永远的生命。

我给你们一条新命令，就是要你们彼此相爱；我怎样爱你们，你们也要怎样彼此相爱。如果你们彼此相爱，众人就会认出你们是我的门徒了。”

一切苛刻、恼怒、暴戾、嚷闹、毁谤，连同一切恶毒，都应当从你们中间除掉。要互相友爱，存温柔的心，彼此饶恕，就像神在基督里饶恕了你们一样。

就应当有同样的思想，同样的爱心，要心志相同，思想一致，使我充满喜乐。不要自私自利，也不要贪图虚荣，只要谦卑，看别人比自己强；各人不要单顾自己的事，也要顾别人的事。你们应当有这样的思想，这也是基督耶稣的思想。（全节或译：“你们当以基督耶稣的心为心。”）

流本又对他们说：“不可流他的血，可以把他丢在这旷野的枯井里，不可下手害他。”流本的意思是要救他脱离他们的手，把他带回去给他的父亲。
