到了住宿的地方，一打開我們的布袋，哎呀，各人的銀子，我們分量足數的銀子，都在各人的布袋口呢！現在我們手裏又帶回來了。我們另外又帶下銀子在我們手裏來買糧食，不知道誰把我們的銀子放在我們的布袋裏呢！』

因為那說：「你不可姦淫，不可殺人，不可偷竊，不可貪慾」的誡命——以及任何別的誡命——都總歸「在愛你的鄰舍如同你自己」這一句話之內。

後來他們倒口袋，哎呀，各人的銀包都在自己的口袋裏呢！他們和父親看見他們的銀包，就都害怕。

『「不可偷竊。

因為凡遵守全律法、而在一件事上失腳的、就有全部罪責了。因為那說『不可姦淫』的、也說『不可殺人』；你若不姦淫，卻殺人，你還是犯法的。

手裏又要加倍地帶銀子，並將退回在你們布袋口裏的銀子仍帶在手裏；那或者是錯了。

他問耶穌說：『甚麼誡命啊？』耶穌說：就是：『不可殺人；不可姦淫；不可偷竊；不可作假見證；

『不可偷竊。

他們對他說：『我主為甚麼說這樣的話呢？你僕人絕不能作這樣事的。

在住宿的地方，他們中間有一個人打開了口袋，要拿糧草餵驢，竟看見自己的銀子，在自己的布袋口呢！

又彼此說：『我們對我們弟弟實在有了罪責：他向我們乞哀求憐的時候，我們見他心裏的困苦，卻不肯聽，所以這場困苦臨到我們身上了。』
