我的杯，就是那个银杯，要和买粮的银子一同放在最年轻的那个人的袋口上。”管家就照约瑟所说的话去做了。

我说这话，不是吩咐你们，乃是藉着别人的热心试验你们爱心的实在。

把你们的小兄弟带到我这里来，如此，你们的话便有证据，你们也不至于死。”他们就照样而行。

你也不可听那先知或是那做梦之人的话；因为这是耶和华你们的神试验你们，要知道你们是尽心尽性爱耶和华你们的神不是。

我指着法老的性命起誓，若是你们的小兄弟不到这里来，你们就不得出这地方，从此就可以把你们证验出来了。须要打发你们中间一个人去，把你们的兄弟带来。至于你们，都要囚在这里，好证验你们的话真不真，若不真，我指着法老的性命起誓，你们一定是奸细。”

他们就为约瑟单摆了一席，为那些人又摆了一席，也为和约瑟同吃饭的埃及人另摆了一席，因为埃及人不可和希伯来人一同吃饭；那原是埃及人所厌恶的。

“我差你们去，如同羊进入狼群；所以你们要灵巧像蛇，驯良像鸽子。

又在旷野将你列祖所不认识的吗哪赐给你吃，是要苦炼你，试验你，叫你终久享福；

你也要记念耶和华你的神在旷野引导你这四十年，是要苦炼你，试验你，要知道你心内如何，肯守他的诫命不肯。
