Then Judah said to his father Israel,“ Send the boy with me and we will go immediately. Then we will live and not die– we and you and our little ones.

猶大謂父以色列曰、遣孺子與我偕、即起而往、爾我暨子女、均可延生不死、

猶大謂以色列曰、遣弟與我偕往、汝我子女、均可相保、不至死亡。

猶大謂父以色列曰、遣童子偕我、我儕即起而往、爾與我儕及我子女、皆可保全、不至死亡、

Then Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.

Judah spoke to Israel his father.“ Send the boy along with me,” he said.“ We’ll go right away. Then we and you and our children will live and not die.

And Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones.

Judah said to his father,“ Send the boy with me, and we will be on our way. Otherwise we will all die of starvation— and not only we, but you and our little ones.

Then Judah said to his father Israel,“ Send the boy with me. We will be on our way so that we may live and not die— neither we, nor you, nor our dependents.

He then said,“ Look, I hear that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy grain for us so that we may live and not die.”

One of his advisers replied,“ Pick some men and have them take five of the horses that are left in the city.( Even if they are killed, their fate will be no different than that of all the Israelite people– we’re all going to die!) Let’s send them out so we can know for sure what’s going on.”

But we replied,‘ We cannot go down there. If our youngest brother is with us, then we will go, for we won’t be permitted to see the man’s face if our youngest brother is not with us.’

So now, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your little children.” Then he consoled them and spoke kindly to them.

If we go into the city, we’ll die of starvation, and if we stay here we’ll die! So come on, let’s defect to the Syrian camp! If they spare us, we’ll live; if they kill us– well, we were going to die anyway.”

I called for a fast there by the Ahava Canal, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and seek from him a safe journey for us, our children, and all our property.

May Reuben live and not die, and may his people multiply.

“ Honor your father and your mother, that you may live a long time in the land the LORD your God is giving to you.

I will not die, but live, and I will proclaim what the LORD has done.

You are also commanded to say,‘ Do this: Take for yourselves wagons from the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives. Bring your father and come.

all Joseph’s household, his brothers, and his father’s household. But they left their little children and their flocks and herds in the land of Goshen.

But Jacob replied,“ My son will not go down there with you, for his brother is dead and he alone is left. If an accident happens to him on the journey you have to make, then you will bring down my gray hair in sorrow to the grave.”

But I will bring in your little ones, whom you said would become victims of war, and they will enjoy the land that you have despised.
