So Judah said to his father Israel,“ Send the boy with me and we will arise and go, so that we may live and not die, we as well as you and our little ones.

猶大謂父以色列曰、遣孺子與我偕、即起而往、爾我暨子女、均可延生不死、

Then Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.

Then he said,“ Look, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt; go down there and buy some for us from that place, so that we may live and not die.”

One of his servants responded and said,“ Please, have some men take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Behold, they will be in any case like all the multitude of Israel who are left in it; behold, they will be like all the multitude of Israel who have already perished, so let us send them and see.”

But we said,‘ We cannot go down. If our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down; for we cannot see the man’s face unless our youngest brother is with us.’

So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

If we say,‘ We will enter the city,’ then the famine is in the city and we will die there; but if we sit here, we will also die. Now then come, and let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans. If they spare us, we will live; and if they kill us, then we will die.”

Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, to humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him a safe journey for us, our little ones, and all our possessions.

“ May Reuben live and not die, Nor may his people be few.”

“ Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be prolonged on the land which the Lord your God gives you.

I will not die, but live, And tell of the works of the Lord.

Now you are ordered,‘ Do this: take wagons from the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives, and bring your father and come.

and all the household of Joseph and his brothers and his father’s household; they left only their little ones and their flocks and their herds in the land of Goshen.

But Jacob said,“ My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he alone is left. If harm should happen to him on the journey you are taking, then you will bring my gray hair down to Sheol in sorrow.”

Your children, however, whom you said would become plunder— I will bring them in, and they will know the land which you have rejected.
