Then Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.

Judah spoke to Israel his father.“ Send the boy along with me,” he said.“ We’ll go right away. Then we and you and our children will live and not die.

And Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones.

他說：『𠺶，我聽說在埃及有穀子；你們下那裏去，從那裏給我們買，我們就可以活着，免得死。』

臣僕中、有一個人回答王說：『從剩下的馬、在城裏所剩下的之中、叫人去牽五匹來吧。反正所有在城裏剩下來的以色列大眾也必像所有死去的以色列大眾早晚都死去啊。我們打發人去看看吧。』

我們就說：「我們不能下去；若有我們頂小的弟弟和我們一同去，我們就可以下去；因為若沒有我們頂小的弟弟和我們一同去，我們就不能見那人的面。」

現在你們不要害怕；我必定供養你們和你們那些弱小的。』於是約瑟安慰他們，和他們談心。

我們若說：我們進城去吧，城裏呢、鬧饑荒，我們必死在那裏；我們若在這裏坐着不動呢，也是死。來吧，我們現在去投歸亞蘭人的軍營吧；他們若讓我們活着，我們就活着；他們若殺死我們，我們就死算了。』

那時我在亞哈瓦河邊那裏宣告禁食，為要在我們的上帝面前刻苦自己，祈求他使我們和我們的小孩跟一切活財物都得了平坦的路。

『願如便長活着，不至死亡，雖然他的人數稀少。』

『要孝敬你的父親和母親，使你在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你的土地得享長壽。

我必不至於死；我仍要活着，來敘說永恆主的作為。

我吩咐你，你們要這樣行，要從埃及地帶着車去，給幼小的和妻子坐，並將你們的父親載來。

還有約瑟全家和他的弟兄們，以及他父親的家；只有把他們那些弱小的和羊羣、牛羣都留在歌珊地。

雅各說：『我的兒子不可和你們一同下去；他哥哥死了，只剩下他；他若在你們所走的路上遭害，那便是你們使我白髮蒼蒼、悲悲慘慘地下陰間去了。』

但你們的小孩、你們所說必被擄掠的、我卻要把他們領進去，他們就得以認識你們所棄絕的地。
