猶大謂父以色列曰、遣孺子與我偕、即起而往、爾我暨子女、均可延生不死、

Then Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.

我聞埃及有糧、可往糴之、以延生命、免於死亡、

一臣對曰、請於邑中所遺之馬、遣人取其五匹、而往窺之、以色列人幾至滅絕、此馬之數、如遺民焉、

僕曰、不可往也、若季弟偕往則可、蓋季弟不同行、不得見其人之面、

今爾勿恐、我必養爾、及爾子孫、遂以善言慰藉之、○

若云入邑、則邑中饑、必死於彼、如坐於此、亦必死焉、其來、我儕往降於亞蘭軍、如存我生、則生、如殺我、則死耳、

時、我在亞哈瓦河濱、宣告禁食、在我上帝前自卑、求其使我及幼稚、與凡所有、俱得坦途、

願流便生存不死、惟人數維寡、○

當敬爾父母、以致延年於爾上帝耶和華所賜之地、○

我必不死、仍得生存、宣揚耶和華之作為兮、

今我命爾、必如是行、以埃及車、載厥妻孥、迎父而至、

約瑟眷聚、昆弟戚族俱往、獨留孩稚牛羊於歌珊、

曰我之幼子、必不與爾偕行、其兄已亡、惟彼獨存、如途間遭害、則爾使我皓首慘然下陰府矣、

爾之幼穉、爾言將被虜者、我必導入、得識爾所蔑視之土、
