Then Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.

Judah spoke to Israel his father.“ Send the boy along with me,” he said.“ We’ll go right away. Then we and you and our children will live and not die.

And Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones.

Then Judah said to his father Israel,“ Send the boy with me. We will be on our way so that we may live and not die— neither we, nor you, nor our dependents.

我聽說埃及有糧食，你們快到埃及去買些糧食回來吧，免得我們餓死。」

一個臣僕說：「不如派人騎著城中僅存的五匹馬出去打探一下。反正他們和城中剩下的以色列人一樣快要死了。」

我們告訴他，我們不能來，只有我們的弟弟同來，我們才能來。否則，我們不能見你的面。

因此，你們不要害怕，我會照顧你們和你們的兒女。」約瑟好言好語地寬慰他們。

如果我們進城，城裡正鬧饑荒，我們會餓死；但我們坐在這裡也是死，不如去投靠亞蘭軍。如果他們不殺我們，我們就能活命；如若不然，死就死吧！」

然後，我在亞哈瓦河邊宣佈禁食，為要在我們的上帝面前謙卑下來，祈求祂保護我們、我們的兒女及財物一路平安。

摩西祝福呂便支派說：「儘管呂便人數稀少，願他存活，不致滅沒。」

「要孝敬父母，以便在你的上帝耶和華賜給你的土地上享長壽。

我必不至於死，我要活著，並要述說耶和華的作為。

吩咐你的弟兄從埃及帶著車去把他們的妻子、兒女和你們的父親接來。

以及約瑟全家、他的眾弟兄和雅各的家眷，只有他們的孩子和牛羊仍然留在歌珊。

雅各說：「我的兒子不可跟你們去。他哥哥已經死了，現在只剩下他。要是他在路上遇到什麼意外，你們會使我這白髮蒼蒼的老人淒淒慘慘地進墳墓。」

你們說你們的兒女會被擄去，但我要把他們帶到那裡，讓他們享有那片你們厭棄的土地。
