But Judah said to him,“ The man gave us a strong warning. He said,‘ You won’t see my face again unless your brother Benjamin is with you.’

猶大對他說：「那人諄諄地告誡我們說：『你們的兄弟若不與你們同來，你們就不得見我的面。』

猶大對他說：「那人嚴厲地警告我們說：『你們的弟弟若不和你們同來，你們就不要來見我的面。』

猶大說：「那人嚴厲地警告我們，『不把你們的弟弟帶來，你們就不要再來見我。』

猶大對他說：“那人認真地警告我們說：‘如果你們的弟弟不與你們一起來，你們就不得見我的面。’

猶大對他說：『那人切切地警告我們說：「除非你們的弟弟和你們一同來，你們就不能見我的面。」

猶大對他說：「那人嚴厲地警告我們，『要是你們的弟弟不與你們一起來，你們就不得見我的面。』

猶大曰、其人切告我曰、如不攜季者至、不得覿吾面、

猶大曰、其人實告我曰、如季者不來、不得覿我面。

猶大對曰、其人嚴切告我曰、如爾季弟不偕爾來、不得覿我面、

But Judah said to him,“ The man warned us solemnly,‘ You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.’

But Judah said to him,“ The man solemnly warned us, saying,‘ You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you.’

But Judah said,“ The man was serious when he warned us,‘ You won’t see my face again unless your brother is with you.’

But Judah said to him,“ The man specifically warned us,‘ You will not see me again unless your brother is with you.’

Judah spoke to him, however, saying,“ The man sternly warned us,‘ You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you.’

But Judah spoke to him, saying,“ The man solemnly warned us, saying,‘ You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you.’

And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

But Judah said to him,“ The man specifically warned us:‘ You will not see me again unless your brother is with you.’

And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother[ be] with you.

But Judah said to him,“ The man solemnly warned us,‘ You will not see my face unless your brother is with you.’

Judah spoke to him, saying,“ The man solemnly warned us, saying,‘ You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’

But you told us,‘ Your youngest brother must come down here with you. If he doesn’t, you won’t see my face again.’

If you won’t send him, we won’t go down. The man said to us,‘ You won’t see my face again unless your brother is with you.’ ”

Absalom said to Joab,“ I sent a message to you. I said,‘ Come here. I want to send you to the king. I want you to ask him for me,“ Why did you bring me back from Geshur? I would be better off if I were still there!” ’ Now then, I want to go and see the king. If I’m guilty of doing anything wrong, let him put me to death.”

“ I have spent time with you preaching about the kingdom. I know that none of you will ever see me again.

But the king said,“ He must go to his own house. I don’t want him to come and see me.” So Absalom went to his own house. He didn’t go to see the king.

So I’m going to test you. And here’s the test. You can be sure that you won’t leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here. You can be just as sure of this as you are sure that Pharaoh lives. I give you my word that you won’t leave here unless your brother comes.Send one of you back to get your brother. The rest of you will be kept in prison. I’ll test your words. Then we’ll find out whether you are telling the truth. You can be sure that Pharaoh lives. And you can be just as sure that if you aren’t telling the truth, we’ll know that you are spies!”So Joseph kept all of them under guard for three days.On the third day, Joseph spoke to them again. He said,“ Do what I say. Then you will live, because I have respect for God.If you are honest men, let one of your brothers stay here in prison. The rest of you may go and take grain back to your hungry families.But you must bring your youngest brother to me. That will prove that your words are true. Then you won’t die.” So they did what he said.

Absalom lived in Jerusalem for two years without going to see the king.

Paul had said that they would never see him again. That’s what hurt them the most. Then they went with him to the ship.

“ Then the man who is the governor of the land spoke to us. He said,‘ Here’s how I will know whether you are honest men. Leave one of your brothers here with me. Take food for your hungry families and go.But bring your youngest brother to me. Then I’ll know that you are honest men and not spies. I’ll give your brother back to you. And you will be free to trade in the land.’ ”

“ Good,” said David.“ I will make a covenant with you. But there’s one thing I want you to do. Bring Saul’s daughter Michal to me. Don’t come to see me unless she’s with you.”

I have seen my people beaten down in Egypt. I have heard their groans. I have come down to set them free. Now come. I will send you back to Egypt.’( Exodus 3:5, 7, 8, 10)
