Then their father Israel said to them,“ If it must be, then do this: Put some of the best products of the land in your bags and take them down to the man as a gift— a little balm and a little honey, some spices and myrrh, some pistachio nuts and almonds.

Then their father Israel spoke to them. He said,“ If that’s the way it has to be, then do what I tell you. Put some of the best things from our land in your bags. Take them down to the man as a gift. Take some lotion and a little honey. Take some spices and myrrh. Take some pistachio nuts and almonds.

Then their father Israel said to them,“ If it must be so, then do this: take some of the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry a present down to the man, a little balm and a little honey, gum, myrrh, pistachio nuts, and almonds.

So their father, Jacob, finally said to them,“ If it can’t be avoided, then at least do this. Pack your bags with the best products of this land. Take them down to the man as gifts— balm, honey, gum, aromatic resin, pistachio nuts, and almonds.

Then their father Israel said to them,“ If it must be so, then do this: Put some of the best products of the land in your packs and take them down to the man as a gift— a little balsam and a little honey, aromatic gum and resin, pistachios and almonds.

在基列豈無乳香、豈無醫士、何我民之不得醫耶。

猶大、以色列族與爾貿易、鬻米匿之麥、餅餌、蜜、油、乳香、

饋禮物、可以啟捷徑、可以見大人。

婢以禮物呈於我主、願爾執事受焉。

各饋禮物、歲有金銀器皿、衣服甲冑、芬芳之品、以及馬騾。

我耶和華爾之上帝、區別爾曹、異於凡民、許爾得地、賜爾產乳與蜜之土、

行賄賂可以息忿、用苞苴可以弭憾。

我儕見其不受勸、則止、曰、主旨得成矣、

耶和華上帝、要當敬畏、爾曹許願、必償之兮、凡從之者、宜獻禮物兮、

掃羅謂僕曰、所備之糧已罄、我無所有、如見上帝之僕、當饋何物。

爾眷愛之情、甚為篤摯、愈於酒醴、爾之香膏、愈於芳品、

位居民牧、求恩者多、厚禮施人、欲交者眾。

底但人、與洲島諸民、與爾通商、鬻象牙烏木、

亞哈士以耶和華殿、及王宮府庫、所有之金銀、饋於亞述王。

是夜雅各宿於彼、簡所有者饋其兄以掃以為禮。山羊牝二百、牡二十、綿羊牝二百、牡二十、牝駝與子三十、牝牛四十、牡牛十、牝驢二十、小驢十。遂別為群、付與僕手、曰、爾往前途、使各群相距、皆有隙地、囑其前者曰、若我兄以掃遇爾、問爾為誰牧、將往何地、此畜果誰所有乎、則當言此乃禮物、爾僕雅各饋吾主以掃者、雅各在後將至。再遣之僕、三遣之僕、及凡驅群畜者囑之云、若遇以掃、當亦如是以言。必曰、爾僕雅各在後將至。蓋雅各自謂必以前行之禮物、使兄復和、然後覿面、庶幾接我。乃命禮物先行、雅各是夜宿於營中。

日所產之珍奇、月所生之寶物、

爾我之父有約、爾我間亦當有約、我饋爾以金銀、請爾渝以色列王巴沙之盟、俾勿攻我。

新婦曰、我之夫子、譬彼麀鹿、亟至山岡、嗅其芬芳。

馨香草、番紅花、菖蒲、桂枝、乳香、沒藥、蘆薈、與諸芬芳之品。園中之溪、活水之泉、發源於利巴嫩。新婦曰、願北風起、南風亦至、吹於我園、使芬芳遠徹、願我夫子入園、而食嘉果。良人曰、我之新婦、視若姊妹、我入園囿、採沒藥與香品、食蜂房與甘蜜、飲乳酪與酒醴、爾曹友朋、飲之食之、以快其心。○

王諭哈泄曰、爾攜禮物、往見上帝之僕、請彼問耶和華我疾得愈否。

大失海島之王、將饋禮物、示巴西巴之主、將納貢稅兮、

為友中保、以物質人、是為不智。

所羅門轄眾國、自大河至非利士人地、及埃及境、皆進貢服役、以至於王之畢生。

巴比倫王巴拉但子、米羅達巴拉但、聞希西家病愈、致書饋禮、

曰、勿固卻、若沾爾恩、請受其禮、蓋我覿爾面、蒙爾悅我、如覿上帝面然。

歲得金九十九萬九千兩。

願全能之上帝、使爾獲寵於其人前、遣爾兄與便雅憫歸、若我喪子、則亦已矣。○

當集書山猶大人、緣我禁食三晝夜、我與侍女亦將禁食、然後入宮覲王、雖違例而亡、亦弗顧也。
