Then their father Israel said to them,“ If it must be, then do this: Put some of the best products of the land in your bags and take them down to the man as a gift— a little balm and a little honey, some spices and myrrh, some pistachio nuts and almonds.

Then their father Israel spoke to them. He said,“ If that’s the way it has to be, then do what I tell you. Put some of the best things from our land in your bags. Take them down to the man as a gift. Take some lotion and a little honey. Take some spices and myrrh. Take some pistachio nuts and almonds.

Then their father Israel said to them,“ If it must be so, then do this: take some of the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry a present down to the man, a little balm and a little honey, gum, myrrh, pistachio nuts, and almonds.

So their father, Jacob, finally said to them,“ If it can’t be avoided, then at least do this. Pack your bags with the best products of this land. Take them down to the man as gifts— balm, honey, gum, aromatic resin, pistachio nuts, and almonds.

人的禮物為他開路，引導他到大人物面前。

我們既然不能說服保羅，就都安靜下來，只說：「願主的旨意成就。」

你們當向耶和華你們的神許願，並要還願；所有在他四圍的人，都要把禮物帶給當受敬畏的那一位！

掃羅問他的僕人：「看，如果我們去，能送給他什麼呢？我們袋裡的食物都吃光了，也沒有禮物可以送給神人。我們還有什麼呢？」

許多人懇求高貴者的情面，每個人都是送禮之人的朋友。

那天晚上，雅各就在那裡過夜。他從自己所擁有的東西中，選出給哥哥以掃的禮物：母山羊兩百隻，公山羊二十隻，母綿羊兩百隻，公綿羊二十隻，哺乳的駱駝三十頭和牠們的幼崽，母牛四十頭，公牛十頭，母驢二十頭，公驢十頭；分成一群一群的，交在僕人們手中，對他們說：「你們要在我前面先過去，使群和群之間保持一段距離。」他吩咐領頭的僕人說：「我哥哥以掃遇見你的時候，如果問你：『你的主人是誰？你要到哪裡去？在你前面的這些牲畜是誰的？』你就回答：『是你僕人雅各的，是送給我主以掃的禮物。看哪，他自己也在我們後面。』」他又吩咐第二個、第三個和所有跟在各群後面的僕人說：「你們遇見以掃的時候，也要這樣對他說，並強調說：『看哪，你的僕人雅各在我們後面。』」因為雅各想：「我先藉著在我前面先送去的禮物與他和解，然後再與他見面，或許他會接納我。」於是那些禮物在雅各前面先送了過去；而他那天晚上卻在營中留宿。

塔爾施和眾海島的君王們將帶來貢物，示巴和西拔的君王們將獻上禮物。

缺乏心智的人擊掌起誓，在他的鄰人面前作保。

雅各說：「不，如果我在你眼前蒙恩，就請你從我手中收下禮物；因為我見了你的面，就像見了神的面，而你也悅納了我。

願全能的神使你們在那人面前蒙憐憫，好讓他可以把你們那個兄弟和便雅憫都交還給你們。至於我，如果要喪失兒子，就喪失吧！」

「你當去，把所有在蘇薩中的猶太人都聚集起來，為我禁食，三天三夜不吃不喝；我和我的使女們也會如此禁食。然後我就去見王，雖然這樣不符合法令；我如果因此滅亡，就滅亡吧！」

因你在耶路撒冷的聖殿，君王們將給你帶來禮物。
