約瑟舉目、見同母之弟便雅憫曰、而前所言之季弟、即此人乎、又曰、我子、願天主施恩於爾、

由伯特利而徙、去以法他無幾、拉結臨產艱難、產難時、收生者曰、勿懼、爾又將得子、拉結氣將絕時、名其子曰便俄尼便俄尼譯即艱難生子之義而死、父名之曰便雅憫、便雅憫譯即生於南方之義拉結死、葬於以法他道旁、以法他即伯利恆、

又曰、我儕當建城與臺、臺頂高及天、藉以揚我名、以免散於天下、

惟願全能之天主、賜爾獲恩於其人前、遣爾兄與便雅憫歸、我若喪子、則亦已矣、

我主之僕我父告我曰、爾知我妻拉結從我惟生二子、其一離我而去、至今我不見之、我謂其必為野獸所噬、今爾曹欲攜此子離我、設遇害、是使我皓首悲慘歸示阿勒、我父與童子相依為命、今我歸見我主之僕我父、而童子不與我偕、父見無童子則必死、如是、僕等將使吾主之僕我父皓首悲慘歸示阿勒、蓋僕曾保童子於父前曰、若不攜之歸、則我畢生負罪於父前、今求我主許僕代童子留為我主之奴、容童子偕兄弟歸、若童子不與我同歸、何忍往見父、恐睹父之遭禍也、

僕等告我主曰、尚有父、年邁生季子、其同母兄亡矣、惟遺此子、父甚愛之、我主命僕等曰、攜之至、使我目睹、僕等告我主曰、童子不能離父、若離父、父必死矣、

耶和華天主曰、人已能別善惡、彷彿我儕、恐其舉手亦摘生命樹之果、食而永生、
