約瑟愛弟之情激動，就急忙找個地方去哭。他進入自己的房間，哭了一場。

西緬和利未是兄弟；他們的刀劍是殘暴的兵器。願我的心不與他們同謀，願我的靈不與他們合夥；因為他們在烈怒中殺人，任意割斷牛腿的筋。他們火爆的烈怒可詛，他們兇殘的憤恨可咒！我要把他們分散在雅各中，使他們散居在以色列。

到第三天，他們正疼痛的時候，雅各的兩個兒子，就是底拿的哥哥西緬和利未，各拿刀劍，不動聲色地來到城中，把所有的男丁都殺了，

他們在一切苦難當中，他也同受苦難，並且他面前的使者拯救他們。他以慈愛和憐憫救贖他們，在古時的日子時常抱他們，背他們。

有些人心中猶疑，你們要憐憫他們；有些人你們要從火中搶出來，搭救他們；有些人你們要存懼怕的心憐憫他們，連那被情慾污染的衣服也要厭惡。

他說：「你們平安！不要害怕，是你們的上帝和你們父親的上帝把財寶放在你們的袋裏。你們的銀子，我已經收了。」他就把西緬帶出來，交給他們。

耶穌快到耶路撒冷，看見那城，就為它哀哭，

於是約瑟伏在他弟弟便雅憫的頸項上哭，便雅憫也在他的頸項上哭。他又親眾兄弟，伏着他們哭。過後，他的兄弟就和他說話。

因為我們的大祭司並非不能體恤我們的軟弱；他也在各方面受過試探，與我們一樣，只是他沒有犯罪。
