约瑟爱弟之情激动，就急忙找个地方去哭。他进入自己的房间，哭了一场。

西缅和利未是兄弟；他们的刀剑是残暴的兵器。愿我的心不与他们同谋，愿我的灵不与他们合伙；因为他们在烈怒中杀人，任意割断牛腿的筋。他们火爆的烈怒可诅，他们凶残的愤恨可咒！我要把他们分散在雅各中，使他们散居在以色列。

到第三天，他们正疼痛的时候，雅各的两个儿子，就是底拿的哥哥西缅和利未，各拿刀剑，不动声色地来到城中，把所有的男丁都杀了，

他们在一切苦难当中，他也同受苦难，并且他面前的使者拯救他们。他以慈爱和怜悯救赎他们，在古时的日子时常抱他们，背他们。

有些人心中犹疑，你们要怜悯他们；有些人你们要从火中抢出来，搭救他们；有些人你们要存惧怕的心怜悯他们，连那被情欲污染的衣服也要厌恶。

他说：“你们平安！不要害怕，是你们的神和你们父亲的神把财宝放在你们的袋里。你们的银子，我已经收了。”他就把西缅带出来，交给他们。

耶稣快到耶路撒冷，看见那城，就为它哀哭，

于是约瑟伏在他弟弟便雅悯的颈项上哭，便雅悯也在他的颈项上哭。他又亲众兄弟，伏着他们哭。过后，他的兄弟就和他说话。

因为我们的大祭司并非不能体恤我们的软弱；他也在各方面受过试探，与我们一样，只是他没有犯罪。

假如一个肢体受苦，所有的肢体就一同受苦；假如一个肢体得光荣，所有的肢体就一同快乐。

愿全能的神使你们在那人面前蒙怜悯，放你们另一个兄弟和便雅悯回来。我若要失丧儿子，就丧了吧！”
