Then they said to each other,“ Obviously, we are being punished for what we did to our brother. We saw his deep distress when he pleaded with us, but we would not listen. That is why this trouble has come to us.”

相語曰、昔我儕緣弟獲戾、見其苦衷、而不聽其祈求、故遭此難、

眾兄弟相語曰、昔我儕因弟而獲罪、我見其苦心、雖乞憐而我不聽、故遭此難、

They said to one another,“ Surely we are being punished because of our brother. We saw how distressed he was when he pleaded with us for his life, but we would not listen; that’s why this distress has come on us.”

They said to one another,“ God is surely punishing us because of our brother. We saw how upset he was when he begged us to let him live. But we wouldn’t listen. That’s why all this trouble has come to us.”

Then they said to one another,“ In truth we are guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us and we did not listen. That is why this distress has come upon us.”

Speaking among themselves, they said,“ Clearly we are being punished because of what we did to Joseph long ago. We saw his anguish when he pleaded for his life, but we wouldn’t listen. That’s why we’re in this trouble.”

Then they said to each other,“ Obviously, we are being punished for what we did to our brother. We saw his deep distress when he pleaded with us, but we would not listen. That is why this trouble has come to us.”

Then they said to one another,“ Truly we are guilty concerning our brother, because we saw the distress of his soul when he pleaded with us, yet we would not listen; for that reason this distress has happened to us.”

Then they said to one another,“ We are truly guilty concerning our brother, for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us.”

And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

And they said one to another, We[ are] verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

They said to one other,“ Surely we’re being punished because of our brother, because we saw how distressed he was when he cried to us for mercy, but we refused to listen. That is why this distress has come on us!”

They said to one another,“ We are certainly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we wouldn’t listen. Therefore this distress has come upon us.”

I will depart and return to My place until they recognize their guilt and seek My face; they will search for Me in their distress.

When Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped off his robe, the robe of many colors that he had on.Then they took him and threw him into the pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it.Then they sat down to eat a meal. They looked up, and there was a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were carrying aromatic gum, balsam, and resin, going down to Egypt.Then Judah said to his brothers,“ What do we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?Come, let’s sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay a hand on him, for he is our brother, our own flesh,” and they agreed.When Midianite traders passed by, his brothers pulled Joseph out of the pit and sold him for 20 pieces of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took Joseph to Egypt.

If people are bound with chains and trapped by the cords of affliction,God tells them what they have done and how arrogantly they have transgressed.

David responded to Nathan,“ I have sinned against the Lord.” Then Nathan replied to David,“ The Lord has taken away your sin; you will not die.

A man burdened by bloodguilt will be a fugitive until death. Let no one help him.

“ Therefore, this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed Me by proclaiming freedom, each man for his brother and for his neighbor. I hereby proclaim freedom for you”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ to the sword, to plague, and to famine! I will make you a horror to all the earth’s kingdoms.

For with the judgment you use, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

The one who shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will himself also call out and not be answered.

And many who had become believers came confessing and disclosing their practices,

And if your hand causes your downfall, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell— the unquenchable fire,

Your own evil will discipline you; your own apostasies will reprimand you. Think it over and see how evil and bitter it is for you to abandon the Lord your God and to have no fear of Me. This is the declaration of the Lord God of Hosts.

because I have five brothers— to warn them, so they won’t also come to this place of torment.’

Suppose someone says to God,“ I have endured my punishment; I will no longer act wickedly.Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I won’t do it again.”

Your way of life and your actions have brought this on you. This is your punishment. It is very bitter, because it has reached your heart!

For judgment is without mercy to the one who hasn’t shown mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

But if you don’t do this, you will certainly sin against the Lord; be sure your sin will catch up with you.

Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh,“ Today I remember my faults.

Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was full of remorse and returned the 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders.“ I have sinned by betraying innocent blood,” he said.“ What’s that to us?” they said.“ See to it yourself!”

She said to Elijah,“ Man of God, what do we have in common? Have you come to remind me of my guilt and to kill my son?”

Adoni-bezek said,“ Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to pick up scraps under my table. God has repaid me for what I have done.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

Rescue those being taken off to death, and save those stumbling toward slaughter.If you say,“ But we didn’t know about this,” won’t He who weighs hearts consider it? Won’t He who protects your life know? Won’t He repay a person according to his work?

where Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.

He will look at men and say,“ I have sinned and perverted what was right; yet I did not get what I deserved.He redeemed my soul from going down to the Pit, and I will continue to see the light.”

when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when trouble and stress overcome you.Then they will call me, but I won’t answer; they will search for me, but won’t find me.

Have you not brought this on yourself by abandoning the Lord your God while He was leading you along the way?
