「以法蓮見自己患病，猶大見自己有傷，以法蓮便向強大的亞述王求救。亞述王卻不能醫病，也無法裹傷。

我聽說埃及有糧食，你們快到埃及去買些糧食回來吧，免得我們餓死。」

他們說：「我們為什麼還坐在這裡？大家一起進入堅城，死在那裡吧！我們的上帝耶和華要毀滅我們，給我們毒藥喝，因為我們得罪了祂。

以利亞很害怕，連忙逃命，來到猶大的別示巴。他讓僕人留在那裡，

起來吧！這事由你處理，我們支持你，放膽去做吧！」

各國的人都到埃及來向約瑟買糧，因為天下到處都是大饑荒。

七個荒年接踵而至，正如約瑟所言。各地都有饑荒，只有埃及全國有糧食。
