When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians,“ Go to Joseph and do what he tells you.”

When all the people of Egypt began to get hungry, they cried out to Pharaoh for food. He told all the Egyptians,“ Go to Joseph. Do what he tells you.”

When all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians,“ Go to Joseph. What he says to you, do.”

Eventually, however, the famine spread throughout the land of Egypt as well. And when the people cried out to Pharaoh for food, he told them,“ Go to Joseph, and do whatever he tells you.”

When the whole land of Egypt was stricken with famine, the people cried out to Pharaoh for food. Pharaoh told all Egypt,“ Go to Joseph and do whatever he tells you.”

So when all the land of Egypt suffered famine, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians,“ Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, you shall do.”

Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my people have become heartless like ostriches in the desert.Because of thirst the infant’s tongue sticks to the roof of its mouth; the children beg for bread, but no one gives it to them.Those who once ate delicacies are destitute in the streets. Those brought up in royal purple now lie on ash heaps.The punishment of my people is greater than that of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment without a hand turned to help her.Their princes were brighter than snow and whiter than milk, their bodies more ruddy than rubies, their appearance like lapis lazuli.But now they are blacker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it has become as dry as a stick.Those killed by the sword are better off than those who die of famine; racked with hunger, they waste away for lack of food from the field.With their own hands compassionate women have cooked their own children, who became their food when my people were destroyed.

The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free.He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed,to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,

This is the word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:“ Judah mourns, her cities languish; they wail for the land, and a cry goes up from Jerusalem.The nobles send their servants for water; they go to the cisterns but find no water. They return with their jars unfilled; dismayed and despairing, they cover their heads.The ground is cracked because there is no rain in the land; the farmers are dismayed and cover their heads.Even the doe in the field deserts her newborn fawn because there is no grass.Wild donkeys stand on the barren heights and pant like jackals; their eyes fail for lack of food.”

There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter of a cab of seed pods for five shekels.As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him,“ Help me, my lord the king!”The king replied,“ If the Lord does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From the winepress?”Then he asked her,“ What’s the matter?” She answered,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we’ll eat my son.’So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her,‘ Give up your son so we may eat him,’ but she had hidden him.”

You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”So Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.”

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.( John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying,“ This is the one I spoke about when I said,‘ He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”)Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.
