When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians,“ Go to Joseph and do what he tells you.”

Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my dear people have become cruel like ostriches in the wilderness.The nursing infant’s tongue clings to the roof of his mouth from thirst. Little children beg for bread, but no one gives them any.Those who used to eat delicacies are destitute in the streets; those who were reared in purple garments huddle in garbage heaps.The punishment of my dear people is greater than that of Sodom, which was overthrown in an instant without a hand laid on it.Her dignitaries were brighter than snow, whiter than milk; their bodies were more ruddy than coral, their appearance like sapphire.Now they appear darker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it has become dry like wood.Those slain by the sword are better off than those slain by hunger, who waste away, pierced with pain because the fields lack produce.The hands of compassionate women have cooked their own children; they became their food during the destruction of my dear people.

The king sent for him and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.He made him master of his household, ruler over all his possessions—binding his officials at will and instructing his elders.

For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him,

The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:Judah mourns; her gates languish. So there was a great famine in Samaria, and they continued the siege against it until a donkey’s head sold for 80 silver shekels, and a cup of dove’s dung sold for five silver shekels.As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him,“ My lord the king, help!”He answered,“ If the Lord doesn’t help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor or the winepress?”Then the king asked her,“ What’s the matter?” She said,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give up your son, and we will eat him today. Then we will eat my son tomorrow.’So we boiled my son and ate him, and I said to her the next day,‘ Give up your son, and we will eat him,’ but she has hidden her son.”

You will be over my house, and all my people will obey your commands. Only with regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”Pharaoh also said to Joseph,“ See, I am placing you over all the land of Egypt.”

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
