七个荒年就随着来了，正如约瑟所说的。各地都有饥荒，但埃及全地还有粮食。

当时全地都没有粮食，因为饥荒极其严重；埃及地和迦南地都因饥荒的缘故而衰竭。

以利亚和我们同样是人，但他用祷告来祈求不要降雨，果然地上三年零六个月没有降雨。

他召来饥荒降到那地，断绝了一切粮食供应。

虽然吃进了肚子，却看不出已经吃进去了，因为它们丑陋的样子仍与先前一样。我就醒了。

在地上为自己祝福的，必藉着真实的神为自己祝福；在地上起誓的，必指着真实的神起誓；因为先前的患难已被忘记，从我眼前被隐藏了。

那随后上来的七头干瘦丑陋的母牛是七年，那七个被东风吹焦的空瘪穗子也是七年，都是七个荒年。

让他喝了就忘记自己的贫穷，不会再记起自己的劳苦。

约瑟给长子起名为玛拿西，因为他说：“神使我忘了我一切的苦难和我父的全家。”

我真的告诉你们：在以利亚的那些日子里，天空闭塞了三年六个月，遍地有大饥荒，那时，在以色列有许多寡妇；

那时饥荒遍及了整个地面。约瑟打开了各处的粮仓，售粮给埃及人，因为埃及地的饥荒非常严重。
