七年饥荒就随着来了，正像约瑟所说的一样。各地都有饥荒，只有埃及全地仍有粮食，

那时，遍地都没有粮食，因为饥荒非常严重。埃及地和迦南地的人，因为饥荒的缘故都饿昏了。

以利亚是与我们性情相同的人；他恳切祈求不要下雨，地上就三年零六个月没有雨；

他命令饥荒临到那地，断绝了一切粮食的供应。

它们吃了以后，却看不出它们是吃掉了肥牛，因为它们丑陋的样子仍是与先前一样。我就醒了。

所以，在地上为自己求福的，必凭着真实的神求福；在地上起誓的，必凭着真实的神起誓。因为先前的患难都已经被人忘记了，也从我的眼前隐藏了。

那接着上来的七头又消瘦又丑陋的母牛是七年，那七个不结实、被东风吹焦了的麦穗也是七年，都是七年饥荒。

提斯比人以利亚，就是从基列的提斯比来的（按照《马索拉文本》，“从基列的提斯比来的”作“基列的寄居者”;现参照《七十士译本》翻译）先知，对亚哈说：“我指着我所事奉永活的耶和华以色列的神起誓，这几年若是没有我的命令，天必不降露，也不下雨。”

于是迦得来见大卫，问他说：“你要国中三年（按照《马索拉文本》，“三年”作“七年”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译；参代上21:12）的饥荒呢？或是要在你敌人面前逃跑，被追赶三个月呢？或是要国中有三天的瘟疫呢？现在你要想想，决定我该用什么话回覆那差我来的。”

以利沙告诉那妇人（她的儿子曾被以利沙救活），说：“你和你全家要动身，离开这里，住在你可以寄居的地方，因为耶和华宣布了将有饥荒，这饥荒要临到这地七年。”

让他喝了，就忘记自己的贫穷，也不再记念自己的烦恼。

约瑟给长子起名叫玛拿西，因为他说：“神使我忘记我所有的困苦，以及我父的全家。”

我对你们说实话，当以利亚的时候，三年六个月不下雨（“不下雨”原文作“天闭塞”），遍地大起饥荒，那时以色列中有许多寡妇，

当时饥荒遍及全国，约瑟就开了所有的粮仓，把粮食卖给埃及人，因为埃及地的饥荒非常严重。
