遂呼家人曰、爾觀家主挈希伯來人來此戲我、適至、欲與我同寢、我厲聲號呼、

Those that are near, and those that are far from thee, shall mock thee, thou infamous one and full of tumult.

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Jehovah, and their righteousness which is of me, saith Jehovah.

by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;

But even if ye should suffer for righteousness’ sake, blessed are ye: and fear not their fear, neither be troubled;but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: being ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear:having a good conscience; that, wherein ye are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ.For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that ye suffer for well- doing than for evil- doing.Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

Unrighteous witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I know not.

If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil- doer, or as a meddler in other men’s matters:but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well- doing unto a faithful Creator.

For what glory is it, if, when ye sin, and are buffeted for it, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye shall take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death;

And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, and saying that he himself is Christ a king.

Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
