于是犹大对俄南说：“你去与你哥哥的妻子亲近，向她尽你作弟弟的本分，替你的哥哥立后。”

犹大对俄南说：“你当与你哥哥的妻子同房，向她尽小叔子的义务，为你的哥哥立后。”

猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡你為弟的本分，為你哥哥生子立後。」

猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡你的本分，為你哥哥生子立後。」

猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡你的本分，為你哥哥生子立後。」

於是猶大對俄南說：“你去與你哥哥的妻子親近，向她盡你作弟弟的本分，替你的哥哥立後。”

猶大對俄南說：『你要進去找你哥哥的妻子，向她盡你做弟弟的本分，為你哥哥樹立後裔。』

猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡小叔子的義務，為你的哥哥立後。」

猶大命俄南曰、汝其與嫂同室、以盡弟分、生子嗣兄、

猶大命阿楠曰、當與嫂同室、生子以嗣兄。

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother- in- law to raise up offspring for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. After all, you are her brother- in- law. So carry out your duty to her. Provide children for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Go in to your brother’s wife and perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Er’s brother Onan,“ Go and marry Tamar, as our law requires of the brother of a man who has died. You must produce an heir for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and produce offspring for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Have relations with your brother’s wife and perform your duty as a brother in law to her, and raise up a child for your brother.”

And Judah said to Onan,“ Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.”

And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother unto her, and raise up seed to thy brother.

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and produce offspring for your brother.”

And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Have sexual relations with your brother’s wife and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her so that you may raise up a descendant for your brother.”

On that day Sadducees( those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. Take my right of redemption for yourself; for I can’t redeem it.”Now this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: a man took off his sandal, and gave it to his neighbor; and this was the way of formalizing transactions in Israel.So the near kinsman said to Boaz,“ Buy it for yourself,” then he took off his sandal.Boaz said to the elders and to all the people,“ You are witnesses today, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from the hand of Naomi.Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his place. You are witnesses today.”All the people who were in the gate, and the elders, said,“ We are witnesses. May Yahweh make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which both built the house of Israel; and treat you worthily in Ephrathah, and be famous in Bethlehem.

Every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel shall be wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may each possess the inheritance of his fathers.So shall no inheritance move from one tribe to another tribe; for the tribes of the children of Israel shall each keep his own inheritance.’”

If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger. Her husband’s brother shall go in to her, and take her as his wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.It shall be that the firstborn whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name not be blotted out of Israel.If the man doesn’t want to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say,“ My husband’s brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel. He will not perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.”Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him. If he stands and says,“ I don’t want to take her,”then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his sandal from off his foot, and spit in his face. She shall answer and say,“ So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.”His name shall be called in Israel,“ The house of him who had his sandal removed.”
