猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡你為弟的本分，為你哥哥生子立後。」

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother- in- law to raise up offspring for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. After all, you are her brother- in- law. So carry out your duty to her. Provide children for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Go in to your brother’s wife and perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Er’s brother Onan,“ Go and marry Tamar, as our law requires of the brother of a man who has died. You must produce an heir for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and produce offspring for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Have relations with your brother’s wife and perform your duty as a brother in law to her, and raise up a child for your brother.”

And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother unto her, and raise up seed to thy brother.

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and produce offspring for your brother.”

And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Have sexual relations with your brother’s wife and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her so that you may raise up a descendant for your brother.”

Judah said to Onan,“ Go in to your brother’s wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.”

The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,saying:“ Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.Now there were with us seven brothers. You are witnesses this day.”And all the people who were at the gate, and the elders, said,“ We are witnesses. The Lord make the woman who is coming to your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the house of Israel; and may you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.

And every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel shall be the wife of one of the family of her father’s tribe, so that the children of Israel each may possess the inheritance of his fathers.Thus no inheritance shall change hands from one tribe to another, but every tribe of the children of Israel shall keep its own inheritance.”

“ If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the widow of the dead man shall not be married to a stranger outside the family; her husband’s brother shall go in to her, take her as his wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.And it shall be that the firstborn son which she bears will succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel.But if the man does not want to take his brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go up to the gate to the elders, and say,‘ My husband’s brother refuses to raise up a name to his brother in Israel; he will not perform the duty of my husband’s brother.’Then the elders of his city shall call him and speak to him. But if he stands firm and says,‘ I do not want to take her,’then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, remove his sandal from his foot, spit in his face, and answer and say,‘ So shall it be done to the man who will not build up his brother’s house.’And his name shall be called in Israel,‘ The house of him who had his sandal removed.’
