About three months later people brought word to Judah. They said,“ Your daughter- in- law Tamar is guilty of being a prostitute. Now she’s pregnant.” Judah said,“ Bring her out! Have her burned to death!”

About three months later Judah was told,“ Tamar your daughter-in-law has been immoral. Moreover, she is pregnant by immorality.” And Judah said,“ Bring her out, and let her be burned.”

About three months later, Judah was told,“ Tamar, your daughter in law, has acted like a prostitute. And now, because of this, she’s pregnant.”“ Bring her out, and let her be burned!” Judah demanded.

About three months later Judah was told,“ Your daughter-in-law, Tamar, has been acting like a prostitute, and now she is pregnant.”“ Bring her out,” Judah said,“ and let her be burned to death!”

Now it was about three months later that Judah was informed,“ Your daughter in law Tamar has prostituted herself, and behold, she is also pregnant by prostitution.” Then Judah said,“ Bring her out and have her burned!”

And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter- in- law hath played the harlot; and moreover, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

About three months later Judah was told,“ Your daughter-in-law, Tamar, has been acting like a prostitute, and now she is pregnant.”“ Bring her out!” Judah said.“ Let her be burned to death!”

And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she[ is] with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

After three months Judah was told,“ Your daughter-in-law Tamar has turned to prostitution, and as a result she has become pregnant.” Judah said,“ Bring her out and let her be burned!”

About three months later, Judah was told,“ Tamar, your daughter- in- law, has played the prostitute. Moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution.” Judah said,“ Bring her out, and let her be burned.”

The daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the harlot, she profanes her father. She shall be burned with fire.

But his concubine played the harlot against him, and went away from him to her father’s house at Bethlehem in Judah, and was there four whole months.

Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.

They shall burn your houses with fire, and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women; and I will make you cease playing the harlot, and you shall no longer hire lovers.

Then I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but went and played the harlot also.

Then Nathan said to David,“ You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel:‘ I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done a disgraceful thing in Israel, to play the harlot in her father’s house. So you shall put away the evil from among you.“ If a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then both of them shall die— the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; so you shall put away the evil from Israel.“ If a young woman who is a virgin is betrothed to a husband, and a man finds her in the city and lies with her,then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry out in the city, and the man because he humbled his neighbor’s wife; so you shall put away the evil from among you.“ But if a man finds a betrothed young woman in the countryside, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die.But you shall do nothing to the young woman; there is in the young woman no sin deserving of death, for just as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him, even so is this matter.For he found her in the countryside, and the betrothed young woman cried out, but there was no one to save her.

The Lord said also to me in the days of Josiah the king:“ Have you seen what backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there played the harlot.

“ They say,‘ If a man divorces his wife, And she goes from him And becomes another man’s, May he return to her again?’ Would not that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the harlot with many lovers; Yet return to Me,” says the Lord.

“ But you trusted in your own beauty, played the harlot because of your fame, and poured out your harlotry on everyone passing by who would have it.

But they said,“ Should he treat our sister like a harlot?”

‘ The man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, he who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress, shall surely be put to death.

And because of them a curse shall be taken up by all the captivity of Judah who are in Babylon, saying,“ The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire”;because they have done disgraceful things in Israel, have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken lying words in My name, which I have not commanded them. Indeed I know, and am a witness, says the Lord.

“ Oholah played the harlot even though she was Mine; And she lusted for her lovers, the neighboring Assyrians,

But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him,“ Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.”

“ Yet she multiplied her harlotry In calling to remembrance the days of her youth, When she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

So David’s anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan,“ As the Lord lives, the man who has done this shall surely die!

And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him,“ What have you done to us? How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done.”

“ For of old I have broken your yoke and burst your bonds; And you said,‘ I will not transgress,’ When on every high hill and under every green tree You lay down, playing the harlot.

Yet they went in to her, as men go in to a woman who plays the harlot; thus they went in to Oholah and Oholibah, the lewd women.

And I said to her,“ You shall stay with me many days; you shall not play the harlot, nor shall you have a man— so, too, will I be toward you.”

“ Judge not, that you be not judged.For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?Or how can you say to your brother,‘ Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

And I find more bitter than death The woman whose heart is snares and nets, Whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God shall escape from her, But the sinner shall be trapped by her.
