About three months later Judah was told,“ Your daughter-in-law Tamar is guilty of prostitution, and as a result she is now pregnant.” Judah said,“ Bring her out and have her burned to death!”

About three months later people brought word to Judah. They said,“ Your daughter- in- law Tamar is guilty of being a prostitute. Now she’s pregnant.” Judah said,“ Bring her out! Have her burned to death!”

About three months later Judah was told,“ Tamar your daughter-in-law has been immoral. Moreover, she is pregnant by immorality.” And Judah said,“ Bring her out, and let her be burned.”

About three months later, Judah was told,“ Tamar, your daughter in law, has acted like a prostitute. And now, because of this, she’s pregnant.”“ Bring her out, and let her be burned!” Judah demanded.

About three months later Judah was told,“ Your daughter-in-law, Tamar, has been acting like a prostitute, and now she is pregnant.”“ Bring her out,” Judah said,“ and let her be burned to death!”

Now it was about three months later that Judah was informed,“ Your daughter in law Tamar has prostituted herself, and behold, she is also pregnant by prostitution.” Then Judah said,“ Bring her out and have her burned!”

And it came to pass, about three months after, that Judah was told, saying,“ Tamar your daughter-in-law has played the harlot; furthermore she is with child by harlotry.” So Judah said,“ Bring her out and let her be burned!”

And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter- in- law hath played the harlot; and moreover, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

About three months later Judah was told,“ Your daughter-in-law, Tamar, has been acting like a prostitute, and now she is pregnant.”“ Bring her out!” Judah said.“ Let her be burned to death!”

And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she[ is] with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

About three months later, Judah was told,“ Tamar, your daughter- in- law, has played the prostitute. Moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution.” Judah said,“ Bring her out, and let her be burned.”

If a daughter of a priest profanes herself by engaging in prostitution, she is profaning her father. She must be burned to death.

However, she got angry at him and went home to her father’s house in Bethlehem in Judah. When she had been there four months,

The faith you have, keep to yourself before God. Blessed is the one who does not judge himself by what he approves.

They will burn down your houses and execute judgments on you in front of many women. Thus I will put a stop to your prostitution, and you will no longer give gifts to your clients.

She also saw that I gave wayward Israel her divorce papers and sent her away because of her adulterous worship of other gods. Even after her unfaithful sister Judah had seen this, she still was not afraid, and she too went and gave herself like a prostitute to other gods.

Nathan said to David,“ You are that man! This is what the LORD God of Israel says:‘ I chose you to be king over Israel and I rescued you from the hand of Saul.

the men of her city must bring the young woman to the door of her father’s house and stone her to death, for she has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by behaving like a prostitute while living in her father’s house. In this way you will purge evil from among you.If a man is caught having sexual relations with a married woman both the man who had relations with the woman and the woman herself must die; in this way you will purge evil from Israel.If a virgin is engaged to a man and another man meets her in the city and has sexual relations with her,you must bring the two of them to the gate of that city and stone them to death, the young woman because she did not cry out though in the city and the man because he violated his neighbor’s fiancee; in this way you will purge evil from among you.But if the man came across the engaged woman in the field and overpowered her and raped her, then only the rapist must die.You must not do anything to the young woman– she has done nothing deserving of death. This case is the same as when someone attacks another person and murders him,for the man met her in the field and the engaged woman cried out, but there was no one to rescue her.

When Josiah was king of Judah, the LORD said to me,“ Jeremiah, you have no doubt seen what wayward Israel has done. You have seen how she went up to every high hill and under every green tree to give herself like a prostitute to other gods.

“ If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and becomes another man’s wife, he may not take her back again. Doing that would utterly defile the land. But you, Israel, have given yourself as a prostitute to many gods. So what makes you think you can return to me?” says the LORD.

They will say,“ May the LORD treat you like Zedekiah and Ahab whom the king of Babylon roasted to death in the fire!”This will happen to them because they have done what is shameful in Israel. They have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives and have spoken lies while claiming my authority. They have spoken words that I did not command them to speak. I know what they have done. I have been a witness to it,’ says the LORD.”

But God appeared to Abimelech in a dream at night and said to him,“ You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken, for she is someone else’s wife.”

Although you, O Israel, commit adultery, do not let Judah become guilty! Do not journey to Gilgal! Do not go up to Beth Aven! Do not swear,“ As surely as the LORD lives!”

Then David became very angry at this man. He said to Nathan,“ As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die!

Abimelech summoned Abraham and said to him,“ What have you done to us? What sin did I commit against you that would cause you to bring such great guilt on me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done!”

“ Indeed, long ago you threw off my authority and refused to be subject to me. You said,‘ I will not serve you.’ Instead, you gave yourself to other gods on every high hill and under every green tree, like a prostitute sprawls out before her lovers.

They had sex with her as one does with a prostitute. In this way they had sex with Oholah and Oholibah, promiscuous women.

I discovered this: More bitter than death is the kind of woman who is like a hunter’s snare; her heart is like a hunter’s net and her hands are like prison chains. The man who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is captured by her.
