犹大说：“我从羊群里取一只山羊羔，打发人送来给你。”他玛说：“在未送以先，你愿意给我一个当头吗？”

犹大说：“我从羊群里取一只小山羊，派人送来给你。”她玛说：“在未送之前，你能给我一个信物吗？”

犹大说：“我从羊群里取一只小山羊，派人送来给你。”她玛说：“在未送之前，你能给我一个信物吗？”

犹大回答说：“我会从羊群中取一只山羊羔送给你。”她玛问道：“羊还没有送来以前，你给我什么作抵押呢？”

犹大说：“我从羊群中拿一只小山羊送给你。”他玛说：“在你没有送来以前，你可以留些东西作为保证吗？”

犹大说：“我会从羊群中送一只小山羊来。”塔玛尔说：“在你送来之前，你能不能给个信物？”

“ I’ll send you a young goat from my flock,” he said.“ Will you give me something as a pledge until you send it?” she asked.

He answered,“ I will send you a young goat from the flock.” And she said,“ If you give me a pledge, until you send it—”

“ I’ll send you a young goat from my flock,” Judah promised.“ But what will you give me to guarantee that you will send the goat?” she asked.

“ I will send you a young goat from my flock,” he replied. But she said,“ Only if you leave something with me until you send it.”

He said, therefore,“ I will send you a young goat from the flock.” She then said,“ Will you give a pledge until you send it?”

And he said,“ I will send a young goat from the flock.” So she said,“ Will you give me a pledge till you send it?”

And he said, I will send thee a kid of the goats from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?

“ I will send you a young goat from my flock,” he replied. But she said,“ Only if you leave something with me until you send it.”

And he said, I will send[ thee] a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give[ me] a pledge, till thou send[ it]?

He replied,“ I’ll send you a young goat from the flock.” She asked,“ Will you give me a pledge until you send it?”

He said,“ I will send you a young goat from the flock.” She said,“ Will you give me a pledge, until you send it?”

凡妓女是得人贈送，你反倒贈送你所愛的人，賄賂他們從四圍來與你行淫。

猶大託他朋友亞杜蘭人送一隻山羊羔去，要從那女人手裏取回當頭來，卻找不着她，

約過了三個月，有人告訴猶大說：「你的兒婦她瑪作了妓女，且因行淫有了身孕。」猶大說：「拉出她來，把她燒了！」她瑪被拉出來的時候便打發人去見她公公，對他說：「這些東西是誰的，我就是從誰懷的孕。請你認一認，這印和帶子並杖都是誰的？」

主人就誇獎這不義的管家做事聰明；因為今世之子，在世事之上，較比光明之子更加聰明。

誰為生人作保，就拿誰的衣服；誰為外人作保，誰就要承當。
