After many days, Shua’s daughter, the wife of Judah, died. Judah was comforted, and went up to his sheep shearers to Timnah, he and his friend Hirah, the Adullamite.

過了二年，有人在靠近以法蓮的巴力‧夏瑣為押沙龍剪羊毛。押沙龍請了王所有的兒子來。押沙龍來到王那裏，說：「看哪，有人正為你的僕人剪羊毛，請王和王的臣僕與你的僕人同去。」王對押沙龍說：「不，我兒，我們不必都去，免得成了你的負擔。」押沙龍再三請王，王仍是不肯去，只為他祝福。押沙龍說：「王若不去，請讓我哥哥暗嫩與我們同去。」王對他說：「為何要他與你同去呢？」押沙龍再三求王，王就派暗嫩和王所有的兒子與他同去。押沙龍吩咐僕人說：「你們注意，暗嫩開懷暢飲的時候，我對你們說擊殺暗嫩，你們就殺他。不要懼怕，這不是我吩咐你們的嗎？你們要剛強，作勇士！」押沙龍的僕人就照押沙龍所吩咐的，向暗嫩行了。王所有的兒子都起來，各人騎上騾子逃跑了。

大衛在曠野聽見拿八正在剪羊毛，就派十個僕人，對他們說：「你們上迦密到拿八那裏，提我的名向他問安。你們要如此說：『願你來年平安，願你家平安，願你一切所有的都平安。現在我聽說你有剪羊毛的人，你的牧人和我們在一起，他們在迦密一切的日子，我們沒有欺負過他們，他們也未曾失去甚麼。你問你的僕人，他們會告訴你。願我的僕人在你眼前得歡心，因為我們是在好日子來的。請你隨手分點食物給僕人和你兒子大衛。』」
