「先祖嫉妒約瑟，把他賣到埃及去，上帝卻與他同在，救他脫離一切苦難，又使他在埃及王法老面前蒙恩，又有智慧。法老派他作埃及國的宰相兼管法老的全家。後來全埃及和迦南遭遇饑荒和大災難，我們的祖宗絕了糧。雅各聽見在埃及有糧，就打發我們的祖宗初次往那裏去。第二次約瑟與兄弟們相認，法老才認識他的家族。約瑟就打發人，請父親雅各和全族七十五個人都來。

猶大和他兄弟們來到約瑟的屋裏，約瑟還在那裏，他們就在他面前俯伏於地。

約瑟的哥哥們見父親死了，就說：「也許約瑟仍然懷恨我們，會照我們從前待他一切的惡，重重報復我們。」他們就傳口信給約瑟說：「你父親未死之前曾吩咐說：『你們要對約瑟這樣說：從前你哥哥們惡待你，你要饒恕他們的過犯和罪惡。』現在求你饒恕你父親的上帝之僕人們的過犯。」他們對約瑟說了這話，約瑟就哭了。他的哥哥們又來俯伏在他面前，說：「看哪，我們是你的奴隸。」約瑟對他們說：「不要怕，我豈能代替上帝呢？從前你們的意思是要害我，但上帝的意思原是好的，要使許多百姓得以存活，成就今日的光景。現在你們不要害怕，我必養活你們和你們的孩子。」於是約瑟安慰他們，講了使他們安心的話。

你們要趕緊上到我父親那裏，對他說：『你兒子約瑟這樣說：上帝已立我作全埃及之主，請你下到我這裏來，不要躭擱。

看哪，我們在田裏捆禾稼；看哪，我的捆起來站着；看哪，你們的捆圍着我的捆下拜。」

至於法老兩次做夢，是因為上帝已經確定這事，上帝必速速成就。

牠漸壯大，高及諸天萬象，把一些天象和星辰摔落在地，用腳踐踏。

他們說：「你僕人，我們的父親平安，他還在。」於是他們低頭下拜。

約瑟備好座車，上歌珊去迎接他的父親以色列。他見到父親，就伏在父親的頸項上，在父親的頸項上哭了許久。

好使你們無可指責，誠實無偽，在這彎曲悖謬的世代作上帝無瑕疵的兒女。你們在這世代中要像明光照耀，

約瑟對法老說：「法老的夢是同一個。上帝已把要做的事指示法老了。

約瑟用糧食供給他父親和兄弟們，以及他父親全家的人，照扶養親屬的人口供給。

我主曾問僕人們說：『你們有父親、兄弟沒有？』

約瑟告訴他父親和哥哥們，他父親就責備他說：「你做的這是甚麼夢！難道我和你母親、你的兄弟真的要俯伏在地，來向你下拜嗎？」
