弓箭手恶意攻击他，敌对他，向他射箭。

惟独那恨弟兄的，是在黑暗里，也在黑暗里行走，不知道往哪里去，因为黑暗使他的眼睛瞎了。

我们从前也是无知、悖逆、受迷惑，作各样私欲和宴乐的奴隶，在恶毒、嫉妒中度日，是可恨的，而且彼此相恨。

无故恨我的，比我的头发还多；无理与我为仇、要把我剪除的，甚为强盛。我没有抢夺，他们竟然要我偿还！

却看不中该隐和他的供物。该隐就非常生气，沉下脸来。

他的哥哥们都嫉妒他，他父亲却把这事存在心里。

耶西就派人去叫他来。他面色红润，双目清秀，容貌俊美。耶和华说：“起来，膏他，因为这就是他了。”撒母耳就用角里的膏油，在他的兄长中膏了他。从这日起，耶和华的灵就大大感动大卫。撒母耳起身回拉玛去了。

“世人若恨你们，你们要知道，他们在恨你们以前已经恨我了。你们若属世界，世界会爱属自己的；只因你们不属世界，而是我从世界中拣选了你们，所以世界就恨你们。

但我的仇敌又活泼又强壮，无理恨我的增多了。

约瑟做了一个梦，告诉他哥哥们，他们就更加恨他。

耶稣的兄弟们对他说：“你离开这里上犹太去吧，好让你的门徒也看见你所做的事。因为人要扬名，没有在隐秘的地方行事的，如果你要做这些事，该把自己显明给世人看。”原来连他的兄弟们也不信他。

他们远远看见他，趁他还没有走近他们，就图谋要杀死他。他们彼此说：“看哪！那做梦的来了。现在，来吧！我们把他杀了，丢在一个坑里，就说有恶兽把他吃了。我们且看他的梦将来怎么样。”吕便听见了，要救约瑟脱离他们的手，说：“我们不可害他的性命。”吕便又对他们说：“不可流他的血，可以把他丢在这旷野的坑里，不可下手害他。”吕便要救他脱离他们的手，把他还给他父亲。约瑟到了他哥哥们那里，他们就剥去他的外衣，就是他身上那件长袍。他们抓住他，把他丢在坑里。那坑是空的，里头没有水。
