The elders of his household pleaded with him to get up and eat with them, but he refused.

When three of Job’s friends heard of the tragedy he had suffered, they got together and traveled from their homes to comfort and console him. Their names were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite.

This is what the Lord says:“ A cry is heard in Ramah— deep anguish and bitter weeping. Rachel weeps for her children, refusing to be comforted— for her children are gone.”

Now if you take his brother away from me, and any harm comes to him, you will send this grieving, white haired man to his grave.’“ And now, my lord, I cannot go back to my father without the boy. Our father’s life is bound up in the boy’s life.If he sees that the boy is not with us, our father will die. We, your servants, will indeed be responsible for sending that grieving, white haired man to his grave.

Then Laban replied to Jacob,“ These women are my daughters, these children are my grandchildren, and these flocks are my flocks— in fact, everything you see is mine. But what can I do now about my daughters and their children?
